I honestly kind of like the way mine sounds as is with just the golf tee type mod. It's got a tone-quiet for sure- but still decent sound. I can't wait for cat less dp's any longer though.

Google, "modified pe exhaust pdf" third link is the one you want, someone on the forums compiled all the data in a pdf for these exact purposes, or just search the forums for the pdf.

Found it, cheers!

Before I bite the bullet....no drone and sounds like the PE exhaust is that right? I love the PE sound and do NOT want it to sound like a piece of scaffold pole straight though like a modified saxo!

Oh and I have downpipes not sure if that makes a difference

Been following your enquirys Dave. Let me know if you find anyone in the UK doing this for a reasonable price.

Read this whole post in 3days while working! Thanks guys! Gonna start the cutting and welding soon. Glad that my title is a fabricator. Shouldn't take long. It's like ABC 123.

Didn't go as planned... Shop didn't have the tools to do it and I had to leave for Dallas the next day. I'll be doing it as soon as I get home in May

Pulled the trigger

After wading thru this very long thread, I finally decided to try it myself. Big thanks to all the efforts of members to get us to this point.
I do have advantage of having all tools needed at home and 10 years of auto-body experience. That said, the process is not difficult if you have access to welder, recip saw, jack and some stands.
Since I was not changing the resonator sections, I only cut open the outer section of both mufflers. In order to maintain integrity of system, I chose to wrap a section of 2.5" pipe split lengthwise over the perf section and weld in place. I just scored the side opposite of split to aid in opening it enough to get over the pipe. Once in place, I just used a hose clamp to secure while welding. Then just stuff packing back in and weld cap back on.

Results :
I would be very pissed if I had paid $1200 for the PE system.
Overall happy with sound. It has nice growl at idle and similar sound to stock while cruising with out drone. Nice note when you accelerate (better with windows down).

One possible improvement would be to figure out how to mount a pair of valves (similar to what is there now) at the inlet to the 2 resonance chambers. Then have them actuated with a motor controlled from the cabin to dial in the volume level. Closed it would essentially be a straight thru pipe close to full muffler delete. So if you could dial in the amount of bypass, you should be able to tailor the sound to your own taste. See pics.

I spent better part of the day, but I did the clutch delay valve delete at the same time. Plus I was taking my time. Overall I would say 4-5 hours total time for exhaust part. Worst part is crawling under the car removing and installing full system by myself.

I am in south Richmond area, and may be able to help out.

Finally got my car on the ground (I did just the passenger side on my E92).

Sound is very good but now am wishing I would have done both sides. It is just too quiet for my taste. I may pull it off again and do the driver side in the near future.

Again, really pleased with the tone, just looking for a bit more volume.

I did this. E92 with AR dp's. It is loud. Without DP I think it would be perfect. But as it is now, it's too loud IMO, and will definitely draw attention. However, there's no drone which is nice.

I'm trying to figure out how to get my canflap to work. Cold starts are ridiculous, sounds like the muffler delete I used to have. You will wake the neighbors... The video of the e93 (with smiley faces) is a close representation of what it sounds like. Turn the volume wayyyy up if you wanna hear what it sounds like in real life.

Garage List
Wow this is a long thread. Took me a couple days to sift through the entire thread, but (I know this is a N54) has anyone done this to an N52 exhaust?

Has anyone done this to a 2011 e93 335i? I'm currently cat less and believe my car does not come stock with secondary cats.

I'm thinking it would be too loud so also thinking about getting a pair or vibrant resonators. Not sure if they will fit since it doesn't look like there is anywhere to put them.. Any advice on how to go about my setup is appreciated.
