Anyone know the best dealership to take my bimmer in for recall repairs? I used to be a loyal BMW of Ann Arbor, MI guy but no longer...

Pease read the following email I got in response to asking the Service Director why I did not get a call or email confirmation for the appt I was supposed to have today, which was set up via email about 2 weeks or so ago.

Mr. (name omitted),

You are correct, we are swamped. I won’t be able to get you in this month if you must have a loaner vehicle. After the last survey you completed, I didn’t think we’d be seeing you again. You are more than welcome to try any other BMW dealership to see if they can get you in any sooner. Unfortunately, we are very short on loaner cars. If you can make it with a shuttle ride we could get you in sooner, but I need to make things perfectly clear. Nobody here wants to wait on you, you take entirely too much time and effort to attempt to satisfy, then you kill them on the survey. I as the service director will not be able to hold your hand the entire time you vehicle is in the shop. That’s what my predecessor did because of you’re too “difficult, time consuming“ for any service advisor to “handle”. If you would like to visit (name omitted) at Erhart BMW of Bloomfield, I’m sure she can get you in sooner than we can. Your new appointment with a loaner car is June 3 rd with (name omitted). If you want to keep this appointment, no action on you part is necessary. If not, just reply to this email and I’ll cancel it.

Sincerely,

I did not want to post names in this email but what would you do if you were in my situation guys & gals?

Thanks,
MrD

Sounds like they're not interested in having you back to the shop...that's pretty harsh from a "service" perspective, but I guess they're "swamped" enough that they don't feel they need the business?

I go to Erhard in Bloomfield, they are excellent all around and always get excellent reviews from me. It might be a far drive if you're in Ann Arbor, I guess it all depends on what your time is worth. Might try Farmington Hills, they are also Erhard so I imagine they'd be pretty good.

PS - the Erhard service department got me in for the battery recall with only two days notice and got me in and out in under an hour including washing the car

Thanks, I don't live by Ann arbor I just went there cause before they were bought out by Sonic automotive they had decent service. But when Sonic took it over they fired almost all the previous staff, to bring in their own crew I guess.

I called Erhard of WB earlier and no replies back. I left a voicemail with a person that I knew from AA BMW.

I was just curious as to others opinions, but I know now that I will be taking this up the food chain, so to speak...

Thanks,
MrD

In the past, I tried to get Erhard of FH to work on my car but ended up doing it myself with a buddy. Erhard is very swamped and you've gotta have an emergency for them to let you in with short notice. I did leave messages on the phones of two different SA's but didn't get calls back for at least three days. I don't care anymore because I do the work myself.

On the flip-side, when I needed my old Lexus to worked on, I left a message with Meade Lexus of Southfield requesting service and they called me back within a few hours, scheduled me in the next day and got me a loaner.

I will say that the Erhard FH Parts Department has helped me out procuring or pricing out parts and have been nothing but helpful.

Also, don't take this the wrong way, but if they have repeatedly provided "bad" service to you, why do you keep going back?

No problem, the reason I kept going there is I had a good relationship with the previous service manager. So anytime I had an issue I had to make a call or email and that person would make it right!

Thanks,

OK, that's understandable. I used Motorwerks in Commerce to do a 4-wheel alignment after I installed Eibach springs. The handling and ride quality was night and day after the alignment. They were pricey for the alignment but they've got a factory trained guy who worked on my car.

Couldn't get out of work. I'll be there in June before going to the GP downtown though! Hopefully some other MI people are interested:

Also, I think after my car gets fixed up I'm going to go to motorwerks to get it detailed inside and out.

I detail cars head to toe for about $100. Took me 8 hours to do my car, but that can be changed in price. Here's mine after a 8 hour detail.

Hand wash
Clay bar
M105 LC orange pads
M205 LC white pads
Black fire LC blue pads
Poorboy 50/50 wax

And yes I have some stickers on my windshield. I'm very nervous to post my car because I know ill catch shit for putting stickers on a BMW. I have some on the rear window as well. I know some people like a clean look, but oh we'll I love it.

Rizzo,
do you do detailing on the side? I have a space grey sedan that needs inside and out detail job.

Once I get all repairs done would you be interested in doing my car?

Sounds good bro, I don't think I need a crazy super detail job, just a normal wash, wax and interior cleaning and maybe leather conditioning?

But will definitely pm you once I get my ride fixed up...

Yea I have some learherique stuff that's top notch stuff. That's a simple half day job but still will make the car nice

Here's a buddy's c6 vette I detailed for him just simple wash and wax then I polished his engine because it was going to the msu car show. And also cleaned the interior. It has 800 hp meth injected and it's a amazing car to hear run.

Rizzo:

Due to the previous owner not taking care of the paint on my car (2007 e90), I've got crazy swirl marks/scratches in the clear-coat... how much $ to wash/clay/ get the scratches out/wax?

Thanks.
