You need to figure out which speakers each of the channels on the xd600/6 is powering. From there see which channels the rca's are connected to on the ms8.
I'm using channel 7 through the hi output 16 pin harness to my center that's how Technic told me to do it. Name: image.jpg

Ok so I'm assuming channel 8 is for the sub.

You just need to figure out the other 6. If they are labeled on technics harness just check which speaker is connected to which channel on the xd600/6. It is simpler if you have them setup the same on the ms8.

For example channel 1 on the xd600/6 powering the front left is connected to channel one on the ms8 channel 2 on the xd front right is also channel 2 on the ms8.

The biggest issue is still that I'm running the high input just using channel 7 directly from the MS-8 to the center and it just won't work. That's a common sense hookup and I just can't get it !

I think that you meant output or that is the problem. :

You need to tell the MS-8 via setup that there is a center speaker connected to output channel 7.

You need to take a look at the MS-8 installation manual: http://www.jbl.com/images/media/MS_8_OM_EN.pdf

I've read that manual a 1,000 times and I have told the MS-8 there is a center channel on channel 7 I've assigned all my channels. I've checked the speaker and the wiring it's something I've just got to find it : )

I've actually had the same problem, tried to run the sides off the ms8 (after having used all external channels) and could not he the internal amp to kick in. I didn't troubleshoot though, so I can't help except, except try doing a factory reset to see if that works.

Okay so here are my latest problems with the MS-8 even though its definitely getting to sound better.
1.MY DLS PS4As sound a bit tinny lots of highs I think it might be a crossover issue ?
2. JL W-3 Sub is boomy and has a like a one second delay from the music.
3. and of course as I posted in my center channel thread I just can't get that center channel to work I think I'm gonna run a separate small amp just for the center I can't think of what else to do.
So other than those issues and getting a solid calibration I'm getting there .....
