Disable car alarm?
Gents,
To cut a long story short my car was returned to me by the Police. It has a smashed window which is getting replaced ASAP. At the moment if you lock the doors and wave your hand inside it does not set the alarm off, have the Police disabled the alarm and if so how do I reactivate it? Thanks. Steve.

Sorry to hear about your car, hope everything gets worked out. regarding the alarm, are you sure that it is disabled. The alarm takes a bit to set, normally shown by the red led under the rear view mirror flashing. The alarm will set, minus the ultrasonics, if it thinks the windows are open. The alarm can be disabled, the dealer did it to mine when it was playing up. Sorry don't know what they did, worth checking the fuses?

sorry to hear that mate.
does it still deadlock? i.e can you reach in and open the doors or not?? maybe give it a minute or two for the ultrasonics to set. sometimes i forget to disable the ultrasonics (double press on fob lock) and it takes about 2 minutes before the daughter sets off the alarm at a garage etc. |

Yes the LED lights up and the doors don't open if I pull the handle? Not checked the fuse box yet but I guess it realises that the windows are missing and doesn't use ultrasonics?

If you double tap the lock button on the remote that should disable the ultrasonics, I'm not sure waving your arm insides enough, try sitting in it.

Lock the car and reach in and see if the INTERNAL door handles open the doors or not (pull them a few times) If not, then the car is deadlocked. The car can't know if the window is broken. I'm sure if you leave it armed for a few minutes then lean your body in it will go off. As said a waving hand might not be enough. |

What about trying to open bonnet or jack car up whilst alarm is supposedly armed. Should trigger the alarm.

Thanks for the advice. My dad somehow managed to set it off this morning so it is still working!
Glass is getting replaced today. Next to sort out is the £500 rear bumper damage and then the £150 internal damage done to it. God damn Police investigations, no charges made and my car gets returned in rag order ( windows, bumper , internal, left outside so covered in bird muck which has etched the paintwork ). Police = wankers
