My new Zed has changed colour...

After much thinking, I lost my bottle on the Alpine White Zed, the car hasn't yet gone to build so I rang the dealer and changed the colour, no probs, just an extra £400 or so!

I felt that if this car was going to be a keeper for quite a few years, then white may be great now but I felt I might tire a bit of it and it might be a bit of a 'fad' colour. Add to that some wife pressure to amend the colour

I drove a Melbourne Red M Sport at the local dealer; It did look very nice. I like a lightish interior (not black) so wanted to stick with red leather and clearly red and red do not go together. I also considered the Space Grey and TiAg with the red too. The wife is rather exasperated by my constant car buying thing and only has time for her Mini, but she kept complaining about white, she likes black..... so do I! Another thought was that the white did scream a little of 'look at me', and I would be uncomfortable with that being a greying 45 year old White still does it for me....but......

I came close to buying an old style Z4 last year, that was my new colour with red. Anyway, I still think this combo looks the bees knees!

Still kept the Red Coral Leather

Oh, the new colour is Black Sapphire

It's just like this beauty....

Cannot go wrong the black/red Peter. Looked at a couple of new Z4s the other day, non M Sport, and they do look good, the M Sport obviously adding a little needed aggression. I completely agree with your sentiments on white.

Really do like the look of the new Z4. And the old one too.

How the hell did BMW get it so wrong with the Z3 (Z3M Coupe excepted)?!

I almost went with white as well but had the same sentiments about it being a bit of a 'flash' colour - good change IMO

I prefer your new colour combo Peter, but colours are a very personal thing as we all know.

But for me, I think that looks spot on.

You 45 now!

I drove a Saphire Black s35i Z4 and it had the ivory white leather interior with piano black inserts.

Looked stunning and the colour combo really works - even more so than the red IMO?

Either way it will be a cracking car! Has the VRs sold yet?

VRS sold about 3 days after I advertised it, it went about 4 weeks ago! I knew it would not take long for that to sell and I only lost a few hundred quid on it in 2.5 months

I drove alongside a white z4 today with red leather in slow traffic. The car looked stunning I am tempted myself.

Very nice!

Why does CR always look so bright or pink in photos? Much nicer in the flesh.

That's a great shame Peter. Hope everything is OK at your end. There's always another time (maybe arrange a group buy )...

There are a few reasons why I cancelled, not least is that on reflection it doesn't feel right to be commiting to and spending such a large sum at the moment. There is a lot of uncertainty around in the public sector which seems to be getting worse; and it makes me nervous, my wife also works in this sector. Also, the fact the the Z4 will probably loose its value rapidly and I will always be in negative equity on the deal means that if I had to get rid I could be well out of pocket. The guaranteed value after 4 years was £16,100, again on reflection, I think that is way too optimistic.

I have elected to invest some money instead and add to that over the next few months and maybe look again towards next summer. Hard decision, but I know its the right one. I feel a bit of a burk telliing the dealer, but hey ho, it's my money at the end of the day.
