Clunk while pulling away from a stop and rhythmic clunking on deceleration

Good afternoon everyone!

I have a clunk and could use some help with.

I have a 07 328xit MT that has what sounds like a clunk in the front when I pull away from a complete stop. It happens after the clutch is out. It will also clunk rhythmically off throttle and gets louder at times when I'm turning right and the weight is off that front wheel.

Has anyone else had an issue like this and if so what did it end up being? axle, bearing, suspension?

Thanks!!

Sounds like an axle, but tough to say just from the description

I had the same symptoms a week ago. Control arms and cv axle were bad. It wasn't a cheap fix but the after experience is amazing. Car feels more connected to the road

CV joints typically do not make noises or vibrations without load, ie you're not accelerating.

I would check drive train mounts

Clicking when turning on the fronts or vibrations and/or thumping noises for either front or rear under load, especially the fronts.

You can also unload the suspension and get under the car and check for play in the joints. FYI, the front passenger side of AWD models always has a very slight amount of play in the inner joint. I thought my axle was already bad when I replaced it but after seeing a couple other AWD models come into the shop with the same play, I think its normal.
