Question Springs recommended when plus-sizing wheels?

I am in the process of purchasing of a 335i sport-packaged coupe with the 18" wheels. I just found out that the car has brand new WINTER tires on it so I am now also in the market for summer tires.

I am contemplating just getting a 19" wheel (probably linea corse lemans staggered) and tire package.

Is it safe to assume that moving from 18 to 19 will give me the 4x4 look? I do not want to be slammed, I just want to keep the stock-drop look that sport-packaged 335i cars have.

EDIT - I do not want the "tucked" look.

the circumference should remain the same; just more rim, and less tire. a drop will always look better though.

I guess I'll just buy the wheels and if it looks awful I can just cut the springs.

(just kidding)

I would highly suggest a nice subtle drop like the H&R sport springs

That will even it out and give it a nice drop, without sacrificing the ride quality or giving you that super dumped look.

The sports would be the perfect drop to keep it classy yet still close the gap.

x2 for H&R sport springs, our bestseller by far, and recommended if KW V2 is not in the budget.

I've got 19's on my E90 w/sport suspension and was happy that it came out great. Looks are a personal thing, but I've lowered most all my cars and this one doesn't look like it needs it at all. No unsightly fender gap and it still rides nice. Put the wheels on then make your decision. Easy enough.

Sure, but the stock shocks are going to get destroyed with the H&R Sports, aren't they?

Sorry, that's what I meant. I should have said "the way they sit now" looks great, not "drop".

I am happy with it and the car still rides and handles well. Most drops are for cosmetic reasons. Most times they sacrifice ride and handling by greatly reducing suspension travel.

I am happy to lower a car if there is a lot of wheel gap but honestly those pictures don't indicate a lot of wheel gap. Besides, if you look at exotics, even those have at least a few finger width's amount of wheel gap to allow for travel.

Case in point: http://www.automotivehistoryonline.c...99-GTB-001.jpg

That car looks positively 4x4 compared to some cars I see on this website.
