Loud Hum/Howl coming from the rear end

I have a 2006 330xi. 117,000 miles, 80 miles on the Highway everyday

Just recently i started getting a fairly loud Hum/Howl from the rear end. This sound starts from low speeds and changes as I speed up, but never goes away. Thought it was a wheel bearing, had one go last year, but it doesn't change when I corner. Any thoughts? I'm starting to think it's in the Diff some where. Looking for ideas and cost. My mechanic is out of commission at the moment and I have to drive it to work everyday.

Check my thread on 335xi whirring in cabin. There is a video of the noise inside my car there. It sounds similar to my situation. My front differential is on its way out. BMW stated that it needed to be replaced.
