Hey guys, great thread. I took a look under the hood to try this, and it seems the screw for my right side is messed up; turning it counter-clockwise I managed to unscrew it completely, and it comes out. The bottom part is a gear, and its teeth seems like they're all stripped to hell. Do you guys think I can take out the same screw/gear from the left side headlight and use it to adjust the right? I gave it a gentle tug to try to get it out, and no luck.

also im confused on how high the light should be on the wall. i get that you messure from the ground to the middle of the headlight and if its 2 feet then if you are 25 feet from a wall should the headlights go up to 2 feet from the ground? i dont get it

Just had my headlights replaced and the body shop tried twice to aim them.

They eventually took it to Victoria BMW and within 10 minutes they were perfect.

Wow, this thread is amazing. No more straining my eyes anymore in the dark haha. Two counterclock wise turns changed everything. I am thinking of maybe going back down a little bit (equivalent to only one counter clockwise turn).

2006 3 Series; Driver side headlight

Hi, I don't see a screw to turn anywhere behind the headlight.

Has anyone recently tried to adjust the headlight on their 2006 model (e90)?

Check the first page of this thread, I think it was originally for the 2006 version. This thread dates back to 2005.

Good info!

Is your pattern level or jagged (i.e. left lower than right)? I picked up my new e90 335i and installed Lux AEs today and am unsure if I effected the pattern.

It's jagged, with the left lower than the right now. I slightly turned left light down as it was slightly higher before.

Thumbs up

Thanks! I brought my 2008 335i in to the dealer when I first bought it complaining of the headlights being aimed too low. I was told they could NOT be adjusted. I left it at that. I found this DIY link, and 20 minutes and three counterclockwise turns each later, I feel my car is much safer to drive at night! Maybe one more turn...

I hope the head light "autolevel" does not reverse my good work. I clearly saw them adjust to higher point on our garage door. I will drive at night soon to see if it makes a good difference and report.

Thanks!
