E90 320d performance drop off after remap....

Had my car remapped and for the first few days it really did fly..!!! It was as quick as my mate 3ltr Z4 upto silly speeds.

After a few weeks the car doesnt see to have the same performance, yes im sure you get used to the performance but my mates Z4 does pull away now when it never used to. I have always used BP ultimate / shell and never put supermarket fuel.

Its still a lot better than std still but not as quick as when it was first done. I think.....

Anyone had similar experiences ? May get it rr'd.

yes you should have it R/R straight away to get an idea of what power you were making then could now R/R and see if it has dropped off, i doubt the power has gone anywhere my guess would be that a flat spot has developed and made the car feel slower/sluggish.

a session should show up any flat sopts etc

what gains did the company quote you would acheive with there re-map?

may i ask what company?

thanks

carl

Now this is a concern as I got the feeling they were the most reliable. please do follow this up with your results/actions

I better add this , i had a DMS 535d for about 20000 miles with no drop in perforamce or problems whatsoever .
A chipped 320D IMO should not be able to stay with a 3.0 Z4 . The 2.5 Z4 does 60 in 6.6 secs with the ton in just 17.2
I would blame your friend for driving too slow the first time round !

but the chap said it actually 'feel slower' i used to have a turboed hot hatch which was heavily tuned, not just your usual 're-map' and she used to go off somedays and come back again so it is likely that if it feels slower that it prob has developed a flat spot

This is rather odd, unless the ECU has been touched after the remap. I believe there's another member who had experienced the same problem as you (same car, same mapper), only to be told that the car must have had an ECU reflash but in his dealer's book, non of such activity was ever recorded! In my books, bad move for the vendor to even suggest that!

My 335D is pulling stronger now I've put on another 2000 miles or so. Fuel economy is also going up with the engine loosening up. If anything, with time when the ECU adjusts, performance is optimized.

Definitely recommend a dyno check. I'm interested to find out more as if such has occured twice, something must be wrong.

Hmm have you had a rolling road check (not sure if you can do this on a diesel - sorry i'm a petrolhead not diesel).

As it maybe some other component that may be faulty causing the flat spot not the ECU.

As the ECU is just relying on bring back sensor values to perform calculations to give you that extra umph.

Was at a dealer yesterday - I asked about how they decide to reload or update s/w. He told me they reload if a fault is found or reported by a customer.

Did you performance tail off or was it that it didnt make the numbers on the RR ?

Whats it running now ? Is there anyone else rr'd a remapped 325d with a different map ?

I drove a 330d which felt a little quicker, so took mine to a R/R and it was about 10% down on what it should`ve been. I then took it to another R/R who ran it 4 times with the same figures, every time which were only 3 hp out compared to the first R/R. We then loaded a different map on and it ran 235 hp and 520 Nm, which is roughly where it should`ve been. We then rang DMS who claimed the car must`ve had a software update (it hadn`t, I cheked with the dealer) and arranged to send a tech out to re-do it. I took it back to the R/R 2 days later and guess what............still down on what it should`ve been.

So the 235hp map wasnt DMS's ? Why did you not stick with this one ?

Well i have just filled the car up with ESSO diesel and after about 20 miles or so the car seem to be running like it used too. Pull harder not night an day but back to something like it was....

I have used shell and ultimate BP for the 2 tanks after the remap.?

Anyone had issues with fuel?

Get the car dynoed, takes all speculations away.

That's a shame. I had my 330d done back last September and have had absolutely no problems at all, save a drop in average fuel consumption from 36 to 44mpg!
