canadian tire scratched my rim

long story short while changing my rims the tech there dropped my rim in its face an scratched it... its a bbs ch-r 19"rim in hyper silver.... they sent it out to 2 shops and both said they couldnt match the color or wasnt fixable... however they phoned me back and said they found someone who can do it.

my question is.. i can assume the paint isnt going to math perfectly.. the resale value has diminished and im thinking they should buy me a new rim or compensate me somehow..

what would u guys do?

You need to get a new wheel my friend, they won't be able to match it properly.

Depends what the policy at CT is, but I would definteily try to push for one in a professional yet not too laid back manner.

Althought they may not cover wheels damaged by their machines, this damage was caused by employee negligence so you do have a case with them.

The employee dropped it on its face, it will be marked all the way around the rim.

Sorry for your loss, I have the exact same rims, I would ask for them to get you a new replacement and drive with the banged up rim until the shop receives the new one.

Lesson learned, next time take it to BMW or a shop with a Road Force balancer. Or, if you can, change them yourself.

Make sure to take pictures of the damage and keep a log of what was said and when just in case.

That's why they are called "Crappy Tire"

I would never take any of my vehicles to them, for any reason.

They have been terrible for decades.

it was 9pm, i was far from home... it was either go to canadian tire or spend $500+ in towing back to my house but i hear ya.

anyway they fixed the rim it looks perfect so, although it was a hassle getting it fixed, everything turned out okay.

Anyways, its nice to hear they took care of fixing the scratch. How hard was it to convince them to fix it?

If you read the original post you would see that they were already actively trying to get it fixed....The real question is: Did you request that they replace the wheel, and if so, how did that play out?

When I had my RSX-S I bought my winter tire @ CT and let them mount and install it, big mistake!!! The rim of my rims were scratched badly, looks like they pry it. It was my fault that I didn't check right away, I was in a rush to go home weather was bad. But I didn't really bother much since it was my winter rim. But I learned my lesson never to go back again.

I hate to be this way but resale on those will be brutal. I've had about 5 sets of BBS and they arent worth much, even in great shape. I was trying to sell my 19" Black ch with tires (10,000 kms) for $2500 ....got one lowballer at $1500. In the summer on Kijiji will probably be a little better.

It was another guy. Mine have tires too! I got way more on Kijiji for my 3pcs CK Airs with no rubber so thats where these will be when I sell my car. Probably get OZ or maybe even VMR 713 next time...way less dough.
