Only had my car for two months, so nothing has happened yet...Knock on wood.
When I had my E30, I was living in an apartment, and my parking space is right outside my bedroom window. I caught a group of kids throwing flour bomb and maple syrup on my car, then as a nice parting gift, one of the kids decided to run a nice key mark across my hood. Little did he know I was already out there. I was already tired from working 13 hours when I heard the commotion outside my window. The last kid got a nice hit on his right arm, courtesy of my aluminum bat, and dropped to the ground crying in pain, while his friends drove away and left him. I called the cops and they arrested him. Forget about sleep. My adrenalin kept me awake the entire night. That and trying to wash that shit off my car. At 2am. The shitty part was, I had to postpone my vacation to show up in court to testify against the kids. They left him for dead, so the kid gave all of them up. |

I think someone jacked off on my hood last night. There is white creamy shit all over it, and it ain't bird shit or paint.
Not sure if I should be pissed or flattered. |

Your car has never been keyed and you're crediting the fact that you carry?

It was meant to be a joke and I was gonna retort with some wisecrack, but you're in California, so there's no point in that. Just kidding.

Thought that the other day - turns out it had been condensation that grew overnight, then when the neighborhood cats marched around on top of it it beaded up and deposited the preexisting dirt and pollen differently.

This didn't happen to my BMW (knock on wood), But, I drove a Toyota Camry when I was younger, and got it keyed in front of my dad's house.
This was strange for a couple of reasons: 1) I hadn't lived in my hometown in years, neither did anyone I knew who I might have pissed off in high school. And that's me trying to think of someone I might have pissed off, I'm pretty friendly guy, I've only had a permanent falling out with one person in my life and it was my best friend who got jealous after he saw my career take off while he was getting laid off, and that was years after this happened. 2) At the time my car was 11 years old. Hell, parts of the paint were already peeling off, the keying didn't really make the car look worse than it already was. I couldn't understand why anyone would key a random 11 year old Camry who's paint was already peeling. Then again, I grew up in a very trashy town, my car got broken into at least once year in my hometown. I guess it's not out of the question that someone there would vent their frustrations at the world on my shitty old car. I guess I can be thankful it was a shitty old car and not a nice one - and that my dad finally wised up and moved the hell out of there. |

Now that I think about it, I was definitely lucky. But the cops were on my side the entire time, and in court, the judge's quote was "Well, it wasn't a good idea to go after them, you know. You don't know what they have or what they were capable of, but I'm sure you did out of self-defense." Me: "Yes, your honor."

I know much of the vandalism talked about here involved keying. I came across this article on Jalopnik, which I thought was pretty interesting. Just be glad we don't live in Britain:

I had it about 2 weeks and was broken into in the parking lot of a Holiday Inn in North Jersey. The thief got a knife and took my bmw first-aid kit. Left without the few bucks in cash in the center storage compt. and didn't touch the $1,000+ in hand tools in the trunk.

My first new car back ever was in 1984. Bought a new Honda Accord - their top of the line model (cost $8K!).
Anyway, I'm in church one day. Come out afterward and some idiot destroyed my rear bumper. No note - nothing. Probably someone driving a huge "boat" car that didn't even know they hit me. |

Right before my hs graduation some people covered mine and several other classmates cars in post-its. It rained the next morning and the glue got stuck on the paint.
I assumed it was a certain group of friends a grade below me. So I stole all of their license plates (front and back). And zip tied all of them to a school fence. 10+ cars so like over 20 license plates. Turns out it wasn't even them. Happened back on 09. |

I'm a fairly recent Bimmer owner, and holy crap this is so true. Those kids are nuts. I had one guy in a lowered Firebird (yes, not rice) doing flybys on me the other day on a road heavily patrolled by cops.
That and bikers. If I ever have my windows down they just sit and rev their engine. |
