New Car

Been a while since I've posted on here for all sorts of reasons, but I thought I'd share a few pics of my new car that I picked up last week. It's a Merc C350 coupe in Sport Plus guise. Loving the sound of the V6!

Unfortunately the weather has prevented any spirited drives, but so far I'm really enjoying it. Totally different character to my TTS and much more reminiscent of my E92. It's extremely refined, but suitably quick, particularly in sport mode. Had a few scary moments last Thursday when traffic ground to a halt due to patches of black ice and a sudden snowfall. 300+bhp, rear wheel drive and new summer tyres are not a good combination, but I haven't had time to sort any winters out. Suffice to say we are using the Freelander 2 a lot!

Anyway, hoping to get some better shots when the weather improves, but these give a flavour!

Cracking looking car. Will look forward to seeing it in the flesh and of course, we'll need to head out into the countryside in the new year!

Thanks guys. Decided against Command. I picked up a Becker Map Pilot from ebay which integrates with the central display and is controlled via the main function dial or voice command. Also it has aux input, USB and streams music via Bluetooth so didn't see the need to spend the extra.

Very nice.

I hope yours doesn't suffer the rattles that m@rk's C350 was plagued by.

They dropped the V6 in the saloon, but kept it for the coupe.

Thanks. Was tempted by the AMG, but just couldn't justify it with an impending house move!

Thanks Rog! I've managed 17 around town and 32 on a short motorway run. I assume that you realise that the 14 shown is miles on the clock when I collected it!!

So do I! Seems nice and tight so far.

LOL. A few people have asked me that...one mate suggested that it was telling me to take a break and he wasn't far off. If the car senses erratic driving on the motorway the cup gets bigger and there's an audible warning...suggesting that a break might be needed! Ridiculous, but true!

Thanks for the kind comments folks. I am really pleased with it! It feels very solid and sounds great and it certainly turns heads! It's a rare beast as well. Couldn't find one anywhere to test drive and the sales staff at the dealership said there was more interest generated when it came in...after waiting over 4 months from ordering...than for the C63 parked next to it at handover. They see a few of those apparently, but not the 350!!

The options I kept to a minimum as I wanted to keep the price down on contract hire, but it comes with lots of kit as standard, such as DAB radio, 6CD in dash changer, audio inputs, multifunction wheel, Bluetooth, preparation for Becker Map Pilot, lane assist, auto lights, wipers and folding mirrors. Also very clever bi-xenon auto adjusting headlights, front and rear parking sensors etc. I added Sport Plus spec, which is cosmetic. Spoiler, alloys and interior trim. Also panoramic roof, interior lighting package and Harmon Kardon surround sound system. Picked up a brand new Becker Map Pilot from eBay. It just slots into a cradle in the glove box and immediately works with the in dash display and controls. Also voice activated, 3D mapping and a free upgrade to latest European maps. It's pretty good. Just want some decent weather now so I can really test it out!

You forgot to mention that you added the optional teasmaid. I can't think what else that cup of tea icon on the dash could mean.

Looks very nice.
