How do you disconnect bluetooth to continue a call after parking on iDrive?
I searched and found nothing..... I noticed today, that when in a call using the bluetooth, after parking.. I got out of the car, locked it, and the nav screen stayed on and had the counter still going and probably did so until I was out of range. I'm using an iphone, so I just clicked "iPhone" on the output menu while in call, and it worked fine as far as continuing the call, but I want the car to shut off too. The manual talked about some kind of button, but I couldnt find it if I even have it. Anyone?

If I'm in a call, I can't get idrive to shutdown either. However, if I switch to handset mode, I can then shutdown idrive by either locking the car or pressing the start button a second time. Have you tried locking after you change it to handset mode?

ya, i tried that. I actually locked the car, and walked away, and looked back to see the idrive STILL on. Its kind of annoying because someone could think I left the car running or something.

I have the same problem. The only thing I can do is turn the car off by pressing the start button TWICE. This causes my phone to drop the bluetooth and return to normal mode.
Hope you find an answer!

See, what I dont get, is I recall reading in the manual that there is a button to actually disconnect bluetooth on the car, but I either dont have that button, or its somewhere really hard to find. I suppose the double clicking the start button to shut off idrive is the best option right now, I need to try that out. Thanks for the replies everyone.

Bluetooth off
Can't you just disconnect bluetooth on the phone side since doing it from the iDrive side is such a pain? Takes 2 seconds. Of course you have to remember to turn bluetooth back on once you're out of range of the car. I haven't tried it myself but that may work without having to disconnect the current call.

I have the same issue and wondered the same thing. It only happens when you are in a call and trying to shut the car down. Turning the BT radio off at the phone sounds like one possible answer. Not a good answer, but an option.

Mine doesn't even turn off after pressing the start button twice...
I just have to wait until it shuts itself down. What's worse is if you have music playing before you have the call. I can't shut the car off so I get out and just wait for it to cut off, only to realize that it's blasting music with no one in the car after the Bluetooth gets out of range. I end up going back and putting it in mute... BMW makes nice cars, but their electronic gadgets are buggy. eg.. Ipod randomly switching to FM... Navigation is wrong (tried to find a Target and it lead me to a vacant parking lot)... |
