I think part of the problom seems to be where it draws in the air. When its 70 outside I put the vent on , no A/C, and for the first 3-4 min. all I get is warm air, then it slowly gets colder, but never = to the outside air temp. I think I draws its air from in front of the windshield, and we all know the 335 with the turbo's put-out alot of heat.
If you have a none turbo or single turbo it might work better. Just my .02 cents
btw: my a/c works o.k, but not as good as other cars I've owned

Bought the BMW for the driving experience, but it would be NICE to have an AC that functions like a Japanese car. Do I hate BMW? Of course not. I use the max button with the temp blending dial all the way to the left and the front facing passenger button selected. ..then you need to change the activated carbon air filter much more often than the recommended interval. In my case when the system doesn't freeze me inside "like a Japanese car" I know it's time to buy a new filter and after the swap the result is immediately perceivable. I replace mine twice per year. Then make sure the area in the console - close to where the AC sensor is located - is unobstructed and free of dust.
If you want a Japanese car "instant cold air blown in your face" experience switch from automatic to manual and increase the air flow to the vents in the middle ... If it still not working then take your car to the dealership as the Japanese AC's tend to leak from time to time.

The whole point of the "auto" climate control is to maintain a pre-set temp. in the car. Mine won't, regardless of cabin filter age.

Like I said before, I can get in my car, in my garage (~65F), drive out in the hot sun (~90F), and with the A/C set to 65F, I'll freeze my a$$ off.

But if I leave my car at work in the hot sun, let the thing heat soak, and then get into it, I'm 1/2 way home, the A/C backs itself all the way down, and sweat is still dripping off me.

With it set to 65F, I should be freezing, all the time. On my GM truck, I set it to 70F, it's consistant almost all the time. Only catch 22 is if there is intermitant sun/clouds, then the solar sensor tends to ice the cabin a bit more than required.

I do believe it's a defect in BMW's cabin temperature sensor location, not the actual mechanics of their A/C design....

BTW your oyster leather will not keep your interior cooler if you decide ordering a black car while living in the desert. And it will still be a much higher temperature inside your car parked in the desert regardless if outside are 90 or 140 deg so opening all windows for the first 2-3 min of driving to let the hot(-er) air out would help ... and yes, your particular BMW (...if you really own one) does have a technical problem if it's not cooling better than a Nissan, any Nissan...if you truly believe your car (or parts of it) "it's junk" then you should do something about it, wouldn't be that logical?

Doesnt sound like a techical problem if other in a similar climate are having the same issues. Again, same basic set up as my wifes, just doesn't cool as quick. Just wanted to see if it was something others have seen. The answer seems to be yes.

k...great. Now do a search for leaking+evaporator ... you cannot tell if there is a problem until you take the car to the dealer and do a test. I was prepared to go through the same process several years ago after the AC started to not work as it used to...fortunately for me a new air filter was enough to fix the "problem"...hope this helps. Adios...

Really? My ac is awesome. And I live in Vegas. It was 101 today and I had no issues. I have dark tint and black interior. The tint definitely helped out a ton.

Thank you. I'll go by the dealer and get it checked. The car only has 10k miles and it has never been super cold so I don't think it's a cabin air filter.
PS: to each there own on looks. I like how it looks but I like mine better : )

Never have had a problem here in Texas with my '07, and wife's '11 128i Convertible works great too.
