Intermittent Bulb Failure Warning - E92 2008
I'm getting intermittent (and increasingly frequent) bulb failure warnings that, so far, always clear themselves. I've never been able to find a bulb not working. A number of people have found corrosion or other continuity problems in the outer taillights, which they have replaced. I have a couple of questions: (1) is there likely to be a stored code for this warning? (2) have any of those who experienced this tried to fix it by replacing the sockets, as opposed to the taillight housing? The sockets are cheap; the taillights, not so much.

My 08 e92 does this from time to time. I think mine get loose in the socket. I usually just pull them out and reinsert them and if fixes it. Thankfully, they are easy to get to.

I have this too. The warning will come on and off intermittently for weeks, sometimes a month or two, and disappear. This has happened twice and both times the dealer has replaced brake lamps that never appeared to be out. Not sure what is going on.

when you scroll through with the stalk to the error, hold down the button and a code will pop up. cid-xxx. if its the tails, you can replace the bulb holder. its about $12. easy fix. def worth to stop the codes.

Thanks for all the help. Socket panel replacement sounds like the plan, especially since my car is among those covered by the SIB (i.e., built before late Jan 2008).
