E60 wheels on E91?
I have a set of chipped/cracked 17x8 ET34 style 159 rims that I need to replace, these came with the E91/sport
I have a set of 17x7.5 ET43 style 138 rims that have some rash but are otherwise straight and not cracked/damaged. These were from an E60 xdrive. According to multiple wheel and tire calculators I have tried, there is exactly 3mm less clearance next to the strut, and the tire will be approximately 1 inch taller with the 7.5" rim instead of the 8"rim. The tire shop I went to said there was no way they would fit, that they rub the strut. I'm thinking they probably didn't actually test, and just assumed they wouldn't work because the E60 non-xdrive uses an ET20 rim that is otherwise identical, and there is *no way* that rim would fit without rubbing. So what do y'all think? Should I try a different tire shop? Should these rims work? Should I just say forget it and drop another 500 bucks on 3 new style 159 rims to replace the 3 that are currently damaged/junk? |

Those can fit but you will probably have to use spacers. The 138 style is 17x7.5 et43 while the 159 is 17x8 et34. That means the wheel will sit 15mm further inwards than your OEM setup. There will be 3mm less clearance on the strut which is fine but it might be close to your calipers. Personally I would just get a brand new aftermarket set

If you do want to run them, use spacers to at least make them a bit more flush with the fenders. Otherwise, I would probably just go with something else.
