doing some mods to my car recently getting the kidney grills angel eyes rim's and possibly coilovers carbon fiber trim.

I have a 08 328i e90 sedan.

my question is I planning on getting 18inch rims. I am thinking 19's but i'm thinking that maybe to big for the car IMO. how much better do you think it would look with the coilovers? i think its pretty low as is but this is the first bmw i've owned and looking at pics on the website i can't seem to find out if they are 18's or 19's.

19" plus coils will look good. 20" is too big, 19" is not. I had sport suspension before...it looks better on coilovers

I think i decided to go with the 18 inch. 19's maybe to big for me.

I've never owned coil overs before, so one more question...
do i need to get another set of springs with the coil overs? I'm looking at the KW v1, or ST coil overs.

I been reading a few forms that people had these and are using h & R springs.

Don't get ST's they will rust where you live. Coilovers come with springs

My understanding is that ST's and KW's are similar, ST's just use a different kind of metal that isn't rust-resistant.

I went back and forth between KW and H&R...I went with the premium perfomance rather than the street performance too. I think the ride quality is exceptional for coils. Very similar to the stock sport suspension. I honestly think I wouldn't be able to tell the difference on ride quality alone.

Adjustability is really easy and I had them in a NE winter and they look great still and the locking collars spin with ease!

This is one of the main reasons I went with coilovers. The height of your car can easily be adjusted in a few minutes in your driveway!

I was going to say the same thing, but take a look at the price difference between some good spring/shock/strut combos versus coilovers. It's not a huge difference. Sure, it's overkill if you don't track and don't need the adjustability, but you don't exactly save a ton by going the cheaper route. I think I remember coilovers being easier to DIY as well, it's been a while.

yeah you don't have to use/rent a spring compressor when doing coils

That really looks good with the sport suspention... Ok thank you I think ill try getting the rims first and then if I absoultly want to lower it I will. But I think yours looks amazing... I just wanted to do it all the same time because time is a really rear thing for me these days but I've been waiting to own the e90 for a while now so I wanted to make sure I did things right the first time.

gots to be careful with cheap coilovers. i wouldn't buy anything cheap.

glad to be of some help. my intent was to do it all at the same time as well. once i got my 19s on, i changed my mind. and i've had a box of eibachs sitting in a closet for over a year....but my mind is changing again and i'm planning to install the eibachs soon.
