Even Terry made a comment like now that the transmission issue is resolved he might look at upgrading to a ST or Stage 3. Seems to be the only way to really make power now. Nothing against Rob, but RB turbo's are just a small stepping stone for our platform as we look for 600+ whp. Rob needs to step up his game because Tony is making waves. Regardless, I think ST TS or SS is the way to go. If HPF gets their $hit together and makes this work, without putting the price through the roof like they do with everything else, it will be a game changer.
Price is going to dictate a lot with HPF, like when their $2k exhaust came out.

I know people aren't fans of Vishnu mostly out of personal distaste but I can't imagine that a lot of people who are already with Vishnu will be able to get a single turbo for much cheaper than what he is offering now. Meaning that if you already have his meth it and tune, that is probably $1500 off the price tag.

Now for people starting from scratch with no tune or other proprietary parts from a particular tune, then they're free to choose these upcoming FI options with no financial backlash besides the cost listed for the upgrade.

Would be kind of cool if RB came out with a Stage 3 type bigger twin package.

Even if someone has all Vishnu hardware, nothing would be holding them back from jumping ship to a COBB/Aquamist based solution as there is always someone standing in line to buy used hardware that is slightly discounted. I know HPF has the e46 M market, but they need to think really hard if they want to make a dent in the e89 platform when they price their product. As history has it, it will be out of reach for most until someone else like BMS or ETS rolls a product out the door.

I'm there with you man, I could save my pennies to afford an upgraded turbo kit but at this point in my life, I just can't see it being a prudent decision to spend 10k more on my car.

It kills me coming on these forums though and seeing my measly 400awhp and running a 12.2 at 116 when guys are running 104mph in the 1/8th with these upgraded kits.

Forums suck.

Wedge, trying to pm you with no luck.

I need your assistance with coding Alpina flash remotely (I'm in Australia).

Could you drop me an email on eriktufa @ gmail . com?

Thanks

Im organizing tracking of new transmission for myself , to do the flash , is there any limitation on how new the transmission can be ? Or is it good as long as newer than 03/7 ?

Anyone?

You really should have read all of the posts about this flash. You're experiencing exactly what everyone has described. It is normal for this flash.

You're completely right. I breezed over much of the first 10 or so pages.

I guess I just got used to the jerkiness of the car that I will need time to get used to the new software. To be completely honest, I can't say that I'm a huge fan (yet) of how the car drives in D mode, but in sport mode, it's pretty wild.

Yeah, that's the whole idea. Smooth low rev shifts in D. Performance in S and M. After a little while, you almost won't notice it. It does get better with time!

i got the flash done yesterday, only took like 10 minutes, and it has been amazing to say the least, smooth, fast, shifts. The sport mode shifts are almost as fast as the shifts in my previouse smg m3. This Flash made my car a joy to drive all over again

I am glad my efforts in cracking this flash has given you a new found joy with your car! Love to hear stories like this because I truly feel the same way with my car. It so fun to drive now that it is so refined.

This is a pull with my 2009 335i Xdrive coupe Cobb pro-tuned with the Alpina 6 speed automatic transmission TCU flash. The road was really bumpy and I hit a huge pothole at the end of the video. Also video was taken on my iphone so quality and stabilization is shit. Overall the shifting times in both sport and manual are much faster. The downshift rev matching is more precise, and the car is just more fun to drive.

The D Drive vid is nice. I was telling my wife that it will drive just like the X3 we drove.

WOT with the TCU flash

The clunk you hear in the background is the pots and pan (friend borrowing it for a cookout tomorrow) I have in the back seat. Haha they moved around when I stomped on it.

Nice. Stupid question, why does your gas needle bottom out then reset to full tank?

He has JB4.

above 50% throttle, gas guage is "Hijacked"/converted to boost guage. Temp guage is converted to a/f ratio.
