JB+ install
Purchased a JB+ on group buy and expect it here by end of week.
Looking if anyone has any input on whether I can do install without having to remove airbox. I saw a post on the instructions and it looks like you have to do it by feel...and one handed. Yikes. I'm concerned I'll break off the tab while trying to pull the plug out. My car is an 08 e90. Thanks much |

No you only have to remove the airbox on the 1 series. It's super easy, just go slow your first time. I used a long piece of string with a dime taped to the end so you don't drop it in the engine bay. Good luck!

slide the dime in under the clip so its taught, then just lightly pull the plug out, should be easy as pie once that dime is under there

Even if you break the clip, it's okay. Friction will hold it in place.
Just be prepared...the clip is REALLY flimsy and will break pretty easily.

Use a supermarket disount card, the tiny one that goes on your key ring. Or use a flexible guitar pick. You might want to tie a string on it and tie it to your belt loop so you can retrieve it if you should drop it.

Thanks for the tips
Tried a guitar pick and USB tip. Cannot wedge it under clip to allow me to pull out harness. Got to play with the BT tool. Pretty slick, now if I can only put my JB+ on and have fun. It has to be easier than this... I think I'm too afraid to push an further. A small screwdriver working from underneath would work, but of course you'd need to be able to work still with one hand. Argh... Got this on group buy and hate to send it back ! any guys or shops in the area, near Motorwerks (Barrington or Schamb? ) |

im in buffalo grove, i can snap that thing on for you within a minute (12 mins from motorwerks barrington)
try the dime, dont use a screwdriver...just take a piece of string, make a loop around your wrist, and tape the time to the string. Reach your hand down there with the dime in it, and slide the dime under the tab/clip until its firmly wedged in (dont pry..just slide it in...liek she says ), then the clip comes out like cake but if you do need the help, I can do it no problemo and show u how as well lemme know

ah Buffalo Grove.. old stomping grounds.
Hey, Thanks for the offer. I took a beer break and came back to it fresh. Well, sort of. Used the USB and it worked fine. Ran my BT tool along for the ride on my first test, running JB+ at default. No issues and I can feel the zip already. Will give it a couple days to adapt. Thanks |
