service indicator changed?

My service indicator normally shows 15,000miles when I first started my engine, but recently, it had changed to show 14,000miles.

Is this normal? I have always thought it should have show a consistent miles for service and oil change, no?

Please advise, thanks.

That doesnt make sense though. I have always been told (by my CA) it shows the mileage when it is time to bring in for service instead of mileas left till service.

My car was currently around 3k, if it is like what you said, it should have shown 12k instead of 14k?

Not trying to doubt what you said, just trying to clear up my doubt.

Thanks though.

Never believe anything from someone that works at a BMW dealership. They most likely know less about their products than we do.

14,000 is correct. It's the mileage countdown to when service is due. It'll turn to 13, 12, 11,....

because you drive slower than my grandmother!!!!!!! lol... mine always goes down like 2k miles every 1k miles because i floor it alll the time... if you drive ti so slow the oil will last up to 18-20k without service. the indicator is based on temperature, gas consumption and several other factors.
