BMW Cup Holders Suck

What is so bad about the cup holders? I read several reviews that complain about them. Heading into my fourth year with the car, I don't see so much wrong with them. And who the hell bought a competing vehicle because they think the cup holders suck?
  • I don't find the reach to the driver's one so far away, but then my seat isn't set in the supine position when I drive the car.
  • I've never had a container fall out of them.
  • Neither of them has broken, but then I don't leave them extended when there's nothing in them.
  • They dissuade cluttering up the car as one can't just toss "stuff" into them.
The one complaint I have about the ones in front is that they won't hold a regular sized Gatorade bottle, which caused me to switch to Life Water.

I've had taller coffee cups tip over on hard turns/stops...good thing my carpet is black.

I have no issues either. Then again, the only thing that goes in my cup holders is a bottle of water.

Nothing. Those fatass reviewers have nothing else to bitch about, so they get all pissy not being able to fit their extra large value- sized cokes in the cup holder.

I never really drink in my car anyway, so I couldn't care less.

The only complaint I have is mine is an 07 and doesnt have that little metal trim piece on them so it kind of looks like the two spots where a piece of interior trim was mounted. I mean cmon bmw, put a two foot long indentation in the dash? They could have put a piece of trim across it.

The cup holders are perfect for my iphone holder.

I own an E39 LCI as a daily beater. I don't think you should complain until you've tried living with THOSE cup holders! The E9X cup holders still suck, but are much better.

SUMMARY: It could be worse.

If Americans didn't either, it'd be a great improvement

These cup holders are great compared to my E36 M3, which are so small I can only drink Red Bull in that car.

I'm starting to think BMW is giving us progressively better cup holders to give the illusion that they're advancing. All these stow-away contraptions with problems.... all of them can be solved with a damn hole!

I luv mine but I use thermos coffee mugs with LIDS or Vitamin water with a screw on cap.

I do not drink anything with out a lid on it or let anyone in my ride without a lid on there drink and NO Body eats in my ride, not even ME

I don't see nothing wrong with them. Sometimes if Im drinking snapple or something i just put it in the rear cup holders.

I think the BMW cupholder is just about perfectly placed to mount a GPS!

I know one shouldn't have open booze in the car but my significant other knocked a cup of wine out of the holder and it spilled all over the shifter and ashtray. Talk about a mess!!! Careful of the passenger's knees...they're prone to knocking cups out of the driver's side when you hit a small bump. But all in all, I think the holders are fine when there's no passenger in there.
