Question Idea - Apple TV in place of Combobox

Instead of going Combobox, I was thinking of doing this:
My thinking is, I get all of the features of Combobox that I want (album art, wireless connection of my phone/tablet), but also get onscreen video, internet, movies, video in motion (via ios device), etc. using mirroring. The above items are small, compact, and light.

The only con I can see is that you can't use your idrive controls to do it all (you use your iOS device as the remote).

Has anyone tried this? Thoughts?

Waste of money considering that combox is not expensive and gives you plenty of hacks while retaining the steering wheel remote buttons functional.

Think so? Combox is $650 and doesn't play video, etc.

This is roughly $480 and has more features, plus you can repurpose the AppleTV later.

If you keep an eye on ebay, you can get one for $400.

True, then you need to have it coded.

Nothing better than OEM solution and those mods retain its value.

Wrong, Combox does play video.. But you need the 6NF option..
Have a look at 'rigging' 6NF with a simple apple AV cable.. ;-)

Cool, I wasn't aware you could stream video, over Bluetooth with combox, while in motion.

Regarding value, FWIW, you can't recoup the cost of coding.

Not through bluetooth, BT does not support video anyway...

6NF is iphone via cradle (with iPod Out video signals into the CIC)..
