Will there be a break-in for the 335i?

Just wondering if you all think that the new bi-turbo engine will have a similar break-in period as the rest of BMW cars... how does that work with the turbos?

Probably, I'm sure the turbo components will be broken in by the time you reach 1,250 miles.

Garage List
My guess would be yes, it should be the same basic break-in process.

I'm guessing the breakin will be the same, take it easy for 1200 miles and then gradually go crazy.

Break in isn't just for the engine but the entire drive train. Although the engines may be extensively tested your driving is the first opportunity for the whole engine - transmission, rear end etc. to mesh together and thus the break in and vary speed period. There are benefits down the line.

Speaking of turbos... I wonder if BMW has addressed possible oil-coking issues with turbo-charged engines that aren't properly cooled down? Can you say turbo-timer?

The radiator fan on the E90 is already thermostatically controlled (ie. it can stay on after the engine is shut down), so I suppose BMW could just make the fan come on at a lower trigger temperature and stay on longer, even after engine shut down.
