Question is the E90 dependable for a high mileage salesman

I really like the E90, but I consume a car. 50,000 miles a year. So I need it to run, run, run. Can this car stay out of the shop? I think this engine should handle 250,000 miles easy. Anyone with experience with this type of traveling?
Almost all are highway miles, cruising @ 80mph.(and higher) and will I be comfortable in this small car? Thanks for the help.http://www.e90post.com/forums/images/smilies/iono.gif

how do you get 50K per year?

I'm in outside sales, and drive about 25K per year, and my e90 is really comfortable and is great with sat radio and bluetooth to help my job go by easier

the only thing to consider is to get another car for the weekends so you don't get in the car on saturday and think "friggin hell I'm still at work!"

I love driving, and found myself needing another car for weekend duty to calm my nerves!

Get a cheaper Honda or Toyota for your road car, something you won't feel bad trashing or having to throw in the dump 3 years later. Get a 335i for your weekend car. You'll be happier long term. In my experience BMWs know when the warranty has expired and seem to get homesick more often after that point.

he'll be spending far more time in the daily driver

nobody wants to spend enough time in a honda/toyota to getup to 50K miles in a year eeeeewwwwww

the sheer amount of time he's going to spend in it means that he should splurge a bit and get something nice!

Definitely. Why get something crappy that you're going to spend so much time in? Go for it!

I agree--when one looks at edmunds and sees it costs 80 cents/mile to operate a 335, it becomes pretty clear to me it's a pleasure, not business car. When you're reimbursed for mileage at what, 48.5 cents/mile, you want a car that has a low operating cost, not high. If the company is providing the car as a perk, say for an exec, that's different. If I'm not mistaken, a brand-new Accord 4 cyl. can actually come in lower than that reimbursement number.

of course a BMW costs more to operate than an accord.

the extra amount you pay makes the 4 hours a day that may be spent in the car much more relaxing/enjoyable.

everyone could also buy studio style condo's instead of 3 bedroom homes, it would be cheaper
