Track Results - Unfinished Cobb PTF E45 Map

Last night I took my talents (or lack thereof) to Bradenton Motorsports Park for their test and tune night. I showed up around 9:30 and was able to get about 7 runs in since it was relatively empty. I only had to wait 2-3 races in between runs. Keep in mind that this is only the second time that I have ever went to the track with the first being in November for Fixxfest at Bradenton. At that time, I was running the OTS Race Gas Map with 1/8 of a tank of MS109. Those results looked like this:

Over the past month or so, I have been working with Jake at PTF on an E45 map. We are on the 6th revision of the map and it is still unfinished. Car info:

2007 E92 335i 6AT
Full Weight
58k miles on original stock turbos
AR DP's, ETS 5" FMIC, DCI, Dinan Axleback
Tires = $#@!ty (General G-Max AS-03)1
1/2 tank E85 / Shell 93 Pump
The temperature was around 70 degrees.

Obviously, I need a lot of practice launching as my 60' times are pathetic. I need to work on modulating the throttle instead of going straight to the floor once it's go time. However, I wanted to share the improvement Jake at PTF has made over the stock OTS race map thus far. Keep in mind that the map isn't complete yet. Here are slips from my best time and highest trap from last night. I think the car has very low 12's in it if I can learn how to launch which shouldn't take anything more than some practice. My ultimate goal is to crack into the 11's but that is going to take a perfect launch and probably better tires.

Once I figure out if i'm going catless for FBO or leaving my car as is, i'm def. going to be talking to PTF. They're local to me and everything I've read about them suggests it's a first class operation. Keep working on those launches, your car has much lower times in it.

Good results man, get that 60ft down like you said and you should be able to reach your goal.

How are you launching though? Brake torquing? I could never get that technique down on stock runflats, so I basically went off idle and gradually increased the throttle as I easily overpower my tires.

I have seen one of their 135's break into the 11's but they also have the luxury of 40 degree temps.

the improved ET is due to better 60fts. The best indicator of power gains given what we have to work with is your trap speeds. Looks like you gained about 2 mph at most.

I still don't have my shifts figured out. The last run of the night was when I trapped 116.65 and I shifted out of 2nd at around 5,300 RPM's. I am spinning all of second so I definitely have a lot of room for improvement.

Just put it in DS learn to modulate off the line and let the trans shift itself. Don't ask me how I know, but short shifting will destroy your trap speeds with 6AT and Cobb.

Nice times. You might also try launching in second (just try not to hit the kickdown).

Your car has 11's in it for sure. From what a lot of members tell me you should be able to shave off 0.2s for every 0.1s you shave off your 60'.

With that calculation - you're high 11's with a mid 11 on an absolutely perfect run and perfect conditions.

Awesome dude!

What tires? I can crack off 2.0 60ft's at that track with PS2 RFT 255 cross section, 35psi with my 6MT. You'll definitely be closer to 11's with a better 60ft time.

Any timing corrections on that run? Did you run Bollingers E85? Is their E85 finally back to normal again/
