Bluetooth handsfree options...

If this isn't factory fitted, can it be added? Or are you restricted to Parrot or similar options...??

It certainly is possible to do;

You can see from the BMW-produced how-to it's a labour intensive job, and based on the parts required plus estimated labour time you'll be looking at a close to four-figure sum to have this done by your dealer.

I decided to take the parrot option.
The module and microphone are hidden from site, so it gives an uncluttered, factory appearance.
The sound is output via the speakers and I also specified a steering wheel control module which allows me to adjust volume/hang up etc

The cost of that was about £200 fitted.

Chris you should have the telephone operation buttons on your M Sport steering wheel.

I have the Parrot kit (not hidden away

) but you can hide it in the ashtray (if you don't smoke that is) and then get the interface box for about £50 to use the steering wheel buttons. Without the extra interface box it just mutes the stereo. So for £130 + some DIY you can have a kit that acts like OEM.

I used a Nokia CK/Bluetooth unit with a phone cradle. However when my phone was stolen and the new phone wasn't compatible to the cradles I used the Bluetooth option with no problems and removed the cradle. The Nokia kit needs an integration kit which fits the BMW wiring within the dash to use the hifi speakers for sound. Mutes the radio to do this. The only problem with this is when on the phone the PDC warnings are muted as well!

Another option for you as these can be bought on ebay for around 50 quid plus the fitting.
