Looking for new tweets for front stage.

After a year of having a set of Focal K2's in the front, I've became more and more agitated at the harshness of the tweets. I have no complaints from the drivers, but the tweets just seem to overwhelm the staging and are beyond harsh when listening to any sort of rock. Attempted to use an Alpine H800 to see if a process could help me tune down and properly slope them, but I think the tweets design and response is just way to harsh for my taste.

If anyone has suggestions, I would be greatly appreciated.
System is as follows;
Front: Focal K2's comps 4"
Rear: Alpine comps 4" (The silk tweeters seem to do okay and arent too harsh off the back glass when tuned properly)

Amps: Focal FPP 4100 running both front and rear comps
Rockford T1500 running two 10" woofers in the trunk.

Headunit: Old school alpine 7894 with time alignment, lpf, hpf, and optional bandwith/freq. settings.

I have thought about replacing the fronts with hybrids. Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Not since I removed the H800. Currently running everything passive. So a better topic may have been looking for new comps for front stage. Price range is $600 and below. If I can find a good set of tweets I would consider re installing the H800 to help me accurately run active.

Email don Amann at unexpected creations. He'll set you straight. His email is mypearltpi@aol.com I'll tell him to be on the lookout for you. He's a focal rep and may be able to assist with that as well as suggest alternatives. Personally I have Dynaudio MD102's as my tweets and they sound great.

I concur. Dyn MD100 or 102 are awesome. Also look at Morel MT-22 and MT-23, Rainbow CAL 25, 26 or 27, Silk. If you go over to diyma dot com you will also find a lot of support for scanspeak and other brands.

I've never heard any of the Dynaudio stuff personally, but I may check them out. They seem to get alot of praise on diyma forum. I'll definitely look into them, thanks guys.

I have also never owned any Morel or Rainbow products, I get ~45-60% off most Focal products from Crutchfield, so it's hard to turn that down. I am just not impressed with any of Focal's tweets other than the BE's and I'm not willing to refab my doors or dump 3k into a completely new front stage.

Personally, I've loved my Dyn MD 102's for the last 3 years. They're silk and aren't too costly. I don't want to step on Don's toes and give a price, but give him a shout if you're interested. He'll be happy to help with whatever you need. Great guy to deal with.

It looks like the passive crossover is 3500hz. You might want to just test something cheap like this:
http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=275-030

I have heard good reviews on this tweeter. It might be worth it for fun.

If you are looking for a full set, what everyone else said. You may also want to check out Audible Physics. Depending on how you run them, they might be more than you wanted to spend.

I'm really contemplating selling my K2's and trying out some Hybrid mid's running active with a set of dyn tweets. Unless I use the CDA 7894 to power the rear stage I will need to add an extra amp though.

Heard quite a few testimonials from guys running hybrids, so I may give them a shot. I'll take pics soon and let everyone know what I ended up doing.

Are most of you all running MS-8, Bit-1's with your factory HU? or aftermarket?

From the Focal website:

Quote:
Tweeter level (0/-6dB per step of 3dB)
Suggestion: set the tweeter level to -6dB.
