They probably take off in 1st gear, and let the traction control slow down the car's 0-60mph times.

There are so many glowing reviews. You have got to read this one I came across. Its from just a few months ago by a Washington Post columnist. And he has been testing just about every kind of car in the last 40+ years:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...082702500.html
It really is and it does it very quietly too. First time i drove it i was shocked and i didn't even open it up because traffic was heavy. I love how the tires spin from a hard first gear launch. everyone who drives it loves it. whats not to love about it, performance and efficiency.

I just hate the power drop off in the top end. Its something to get used to. I guess we're used to that linear power all the way up that keeps goin till shift. Just have to be careful.

I'll post pics soon but I hate that we dont have an LSD, i also hate the electric nanny's. i was foolin around w/ some friends burnin up some winter tire rubber. My first attempt was a simple brake stand in D so i guess the car used second gear and it did a decent burnout, lots of smoke but only one wheel lit up. i held it for a while, left a 14' streak of one wheel rubber and then the car shut off on me, (DSC was inactive) I tried it again this time putting the car in first gear and it spun both tires but it cut the throttle before i could put down any rubber.

The other day I was giving a friend a ride in the parking lot. I was rolling along at about 10mph in 2nd gear and gave it some throttle. I went back and looked and there were 2 30foot black tire marks...I didn't even realize it. The tires were fighting for traction on a 2nd gear roll.

So today I went to the LA Autoshow by Staples Center. About a 50 mile drive.

On the way there:
37.3 MPG over 50 miles...with an average speed of 64.4 MPH

On the return trip:
39.2 MPG over 55 miles...with an average speed of 65.6 MPH

On the way back I was crusing about 70-75mph, but had to detour through a few blocks in the city since I missed the freeway interchange. Even with that, my avg speed was 65.6 mph. Had I of not gone through the city, I think I would have hit the 40mpg mark.

Also, while in Los Angeles, I was still amazed at how clean the tail pipes are. You can wipe them with a white cloth and get no black soot. Crazy...

I was surprised to see the buildings on the new navigation system. Kind of a cool feature, lol.

It's pretty easy to get it up into the 40's while driving 70-75. Hell even doing 80 its not bad on the diesel. Pretty amazing huh? Wait till you get more miles and break it in, i'm at 8500 right now. Efficiency only goes up up and away. Tail pipes are awesome, no carbon deposits ever.

don't hold me to it but yes i believe it is. With the SCR and urea, the exhaust is very clean. Not a scent comes out the rear. just nitrogen gas.

So does that mean the air going into my intake is dirtier than what comes out my tail pipes?

They have it in coupe form in Europe only.

Another amazing discovery tonight. I put my Jack Johnson CD in (13 tracks). I was listening to a couple songs and then ejected it. I noticed the music was still playing! I then switched through the tracks and found out all 13 tracks were recorded onto the hard drive. Pretty nifty! Now I don't even need to carry CD cases, flash drives, etc..in the car with me.

I also decided to drive as economically as possible across town. I was still able to eek out 30mpg. I will do some more testing to see how long I can sustain this in the city. Of course if I drive like I normally do, I would get far worse than the 23mpg city EPA rating. But what I found is if you short shift (which the diesel works perfectly with), and keep the RPMs between 1500-2000 max, you can truly see the MPG gauge over 30 at times. It seems by the readings while coasting, even at a really slow speed, the mpg is much higher than it is in my gas 335i. Which leads me to believe, at idle this car simply takes less fuel. Truly an amazing car.

If they put this engine in the F25 X3, I swear I will forgot how magled and ugly the face is and spring for one. Right now I want to love it soo much but still can't get past that face. I was thinking of jettisoning my RAV4 this January, but looks like it might stay put or Q5 might take its place, unless BMW can do better with the ugly or sweeten the deal with 35D upfront.

Since my car didn't come w/ iPod integration what i did was burned a shit ton of music onto DVD's and use that. a nice dual layer DVD holds close to 9 gigs of music! works for me

you'll notice that even when gunning the car doing city driving its pretty hard to get her below the epa rated 23 mpg. The car barely uses fuel which is amazing. Let your engine break in (which we see you haven't from your video) and your mileage will only go up so will your performance.

I'm wondering if they will put it in that but it would be pretty awesome if they did. If they put this engine in any and every car it would be pretty awesome. Q5 is a great vehicle. Rides really well, gets good gas mileage (I have the 3.2) Snow is not an issue w/ quattro. It's quiet and comfortable. Interior is gorgeous, i love it and wish it came w/ a diesel over here.

One of the advantages of a diesel is a very efficient idle, just ask a truck driver!

Kind of going on a tangent here, but Coolieman you don't need ipod integration to be able to store music on your hard drive. I believe it comes with the idrive/nav option. All of my music right now is on my car's drive, and I know I don't have ipod integration. You should be able to burn the music from your DVD's onto your drive, or what I do is use a USB drive because it seems to transfer the music much more quickly.

Diesels run extremely, extremely lean at idle. I once watched a diesel pickup truck run on the vapors from spilled gasoline on the ground near its intake.

Cool, that kind of confirms what I have been observing.

I wonder what the boost level these cars run on? Has anyone put a boost gauge on their 335d?

Interestingly enough...I haven't driven the gas car hardly at all since the new car arrived. I hope it doesn't feel abandoned!

Stock manifold boost pressure on the diesel is around 27 PSI.

What happened to your old 335 hotrod?
You put nitrous on it, ran an 11.3 and then nothing.
Did something happen to it?
