JB3 or Dinan 2?
Which one is better? Is there a cheaper place to get Dinan other than the BMW dealerships? I mean a $2000 to $500 difference is quite significant.. is the JB3 easy to get installed by someone? Would it cost a lot? Is it safe? Can the dealers detect it? If so, is it true you can just unplug it before going?
anybody got 0-60 or other performance stats for either of these? I know they both push 400hp and similar torque so it would be nice to see how fast the car goes with either of these puppies installed. thanks, Mark |

depends what you are looking for and how big your wallat is. Do a search for both and decide which one suit you best.

If you get the Dinan you can just go to the dealer without any worries or trying to "remove" anything. It does cost more and JB3 will give more power, but Dinan is a good all-around tune.
If you get JB3 and you are worried about the dealer you need to also get a BT scan tool to view/remove your tuner codes before taking the car to the dealer. It might also be a good idea to remove the tune in case they go looking in your ECU box. PROcede is another viable option, if you get the CANBUS version you can view/clear codes with that and you won't need to buy the BT scan tool. Also with the PROcede if you got catless downpipes you can easily manipulate your O2 readings. With JB3 or Dinan tunes you would have to buy an additional O2 simulator if you were to add catless downpipes. There are other turning options as well, like SSTT or JB+ which can be added/removed VERY easily for dealer visits. I can't list all the tunes because I am not familiar with ALL of them, but there are others as well. Just to make the best decision for YOUR needs. Good luck |

Any way you decide, the beast will awaken! My opinion is if you are going to do more than an exhaust and software do a JB3 or Vishnu... If you want to keep it simple, go Dinan. 90% of PPL Who run Software other than Dinan usually have AFE intakes, R/R Downpipes etc. Additional mods + Dinan do not go well.

JB3 for sure. Just switched my software to JB3 and I like it so far. We're going to start carrying it very shortly! Moving up to more aggressive maps soon

I agree with 5soko - The JB3 pnp is fantastic!
If you are looking to put on a simple yet powerful tune, look no further! Procede V3 rev II is a great tune as well - Call Terry and Shiv and then make your decision. Last edited by David 12; 06-04-2009 at 05:51 PM.. |

JB3 FTW!! I ordered mine even before I got the car, lol. Install for me was 45mins from start to finish and it is the best mod investment I have made on any car I have ever owned. Just reference both the JB3 and Procede vids on youtube and you will have no probs for install. I now drive on map 5 as a daily driver without supporting mods, and I love it. AR DP's should be in next week and I will try 6 and 7. Very valid points posted above about supporting mods. Trust me, you will get the mod bug and any aftermarket tune mods you add will void you Dinan warranty. $100 labor and shipping to flash, $1900+ for warranty on Dinan.

why did that one guy recommend procede instead of JB3? is it good for warranty or something.. Mike, I live in BC and would love for you/somebody you know to install my chip. from all these posts it seems like I will need a new exhaust? I don't really wanna buy anything but the chip.. I also don't want a chip that requires fuel above 91 octane.. I'm a simple Joe, not good at messing around with equipment or clearing codes or any of that haha
