Rob, That looks like a lot of shit to do I am second guessing about doing it myself. If I were to start early in the morning could I have it done the same day? Not rushing; I am very mechanical 20+years Aircraft mechanic USAF.

Answering your question it takes BMW techs around 16 hours to swap turbos, though you could probably get it done in less time if you are familiar with doing the swap. I'd say at least 12 hour job.

they rush thru shit, not replacing O rings, not replacing water pump ECT.

On a lift: 18 hrs
On jack-stands: 25 hours

easily 2 days if you are being very thorough (cleaning all parts, replacing gaskets/orings ect.

w tech's could do it fatter, plus they usually don't replace every O-ring/gasket. They also do not replace water pump/thermostat.

Well that little mileage you def don't need t-stat or water pump and most of the gaskets should be good but why not change it if your in there and have everything apart.

I just did my t-stat and water pump 3k ago. I have a appt for valve cover,oil filter gasket and walnut blasting for the 10 May for a sick price of $650.00

at low mileage maybe not...but all turbo O-rings I would replace without question....so cheap and when you take then our they could get nicked. I would for sure replace head gaskets and studs...no questions asked....a lot of them may pull out ect.

I will say that I had my turbos replaced at Plaza BMW recently and per the work order they used all new o-rings and bolts where needed. They also replaced my WP, but only because they dropped it. All under cpo.
