lag after inlets install

My n54 have DP, IC Wagner EVO2 COMP, DCI and inlets. Basically FBO

Last upgrade was inlets, and after that I´ve noticed more turbo lag. Is that normal?

I´m runing OTS MHD stg 2+ 93oct/98ron

My turbos are tired, 180k km on them, so they do what the can. Turbos rattle but never had 30ff (where is the wood?)

Inlets don't create any lag whatsoever.

You may have a boost leak or your inlets may be collapsing under boost. Take some datalogs though to be sure in 3rd gear.

I thought you needed a custom tune with inlets...

Inlets don't see boost, but they may be collapsing under vacuum.

Definitely could be collapsed if they weren't installed correctly.

You don't need a custom tune to run inlets but you would get the most benefits from one.

I never said that inlets see boost, I just said to do a boost leak test for any possible leaks as well as a datalog.

Yeah also Overboosting can occur without a custom tune if I recall correctly

Before inlets, at wot from 2500rpm my car delayed 500rpm more or less to reach boost target minus 1-2psi, after inlets install in the same condition it takes 600-700rpm.

Maybe my turbos are on last days, like I said they have 180.000km, rattle but don't have any oil inside, I inspected when inlets were installed, but rear turbo have a very little axial play.

About inlets intall, how could be installed wrong? its only put oem inlets off and install new inlets, tight clamps and thats it, right?

Ok, but still better to have a custom tune to make the most of the inlets.

I put my RBTurbo inlets on (known to not collapse from what I know) and checked them 6mo later and the rear had slipped off from the oil via the rear PCV drain. The clamp was very tight. Yours may have slipped and blocked it?
I feel like it would be an ok idea to maybe rough up the outer surface of the inlet (sand lightly?) to make the Silicone grab the inlet a little better.

There has been some reports of vrsf inlets that were poorly installed collapsing.
Did you install them or did a shop? And was that shop familiar with installing them?

I remember reading a post Wedge mentioned about the MHD ots tunes are meant to be for stock inlets. You might need a custom tune now. Maybe Wedge later will make that option to check the box for upgraded inlets.

You don't need a custom tune for upgraded inlets. I'm running VRSF stock location 1.75" inlets on stock turbos on a JB4/MHD e85 bef and it runs great.

You don't necessarily need one, but it is highly recommended as with inlets your car will overboost due to less restriction in the inlets and easier breathing turbos. I, as well as most others others, with inlets and OTS tunes have this issue. It's not a huge issue since it doesn't happen all the time, but it can be annoying when it does.

Hi, sorry for bump an old thread, but I guess I'm having that exact situation. There's a log in 3rd gear, it could be inlet collapsing? Boost solenoids and vacuum lines are already replaced.
