Shiv-

Can you post up the final Dyno sheet with the numbers for the custom tunes that we have all received?

Or is the Dyno sheet shown in your Post #401 the final?

Hi Shiv,

I've been quietly following the development of your tablet and tune for a while and as an owner of a n52 328 I'm excited about the possibilities of modifying the tuning myself. I currently have a 3 stage intake conversion, PE and will soon have the euro air box and 2nd cat delete. The Eurocharged tune I'm running currently is nice and smooth, but I've had a noticeable drop in MPG while running it, (around 2-3 MPG in my normal 35 mile a day commute, I've had the tune for about 6 months, plenty of time for me to drive normal and not WOT all the time) not to mention a noticeable roll off in power above 6000 rpm. I have searched and not been able to find any direct answers and figure there are plenty of people in my position so here are my questions.

1, Have you or will you offer an optimized tune for those of us running modded engines with the 3 stage manifold swap?

2. For those of us who don't live in sunny California, will the data logging capabilities allow you to dial in the tune via email?

3. Have you seen issues with the ECU pulling timing/ running richer in higher RPMs on 328s with the 3 stage manifold swapped because the cats and EGTs are a little hotter with the increased power production? (And ECU adds fuel to cool things down, hence my drop off in power at high RPMs when things just start getting good) If so what's the work around?

Eurocharged doesn't seem to have much interest in looking into my concerns now that they have taken my money for their tune and simon tool. I'd be willing to start all over again if you'd be willing to help out all of us who love N/A motors and want to push preconceived boundaries a bit.

Thanks, and I anxiously await your response.

In answer to this question - the Stage1 tune we have received was derived using test car with an N51 engine, 3-stage manifold, intake, & PE Exhaust.

So all the mods you listed (except 2nd cat delete and/or catless headers) are already accounted for in Stage1 tune

Here is latest Dyno chart posted by Shiv - power does not start to drop off till 6650RPM:

And here's an earlier Dyno chart that shows AFR graph (Stock-dashed Black vs. OFT solid Black) to give you an idea:

Thanks for your response. I'm aware of the stage one tune was designed around the N51, however the ECU it came with already was intended for use with a 3 stage manifold and has lower compression, no doubt making the tuning, while likely minute, different and results for that tune on any motor other than a N51 could likely be unreliable due to reason 3 above, the different ECU not liking what's going on and adding fuel. Maybe I'm completely wrong. Wish there was someone in the Chicago area who was reputable to perform a true dyno tune. Hence my hope for email data logging. Hopefully Shiv when he has a free second can respond. No doubt he's busy.

There are a couple guys running the N52 with Shiv's tune - wish they would chime in (especially if they swapped the 3 stage) - I just happened to have same type engine + mods as the test car for the tune.

Of course, you are correct - for an accurate explanation of what's going on in the tune, how it reacts between N51/N52, & most importantly an N52 with 3 stage manifold swap, you would need to hear from Shiv himself

You were able to do a read on your DME using the tablet?

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...4&postcount=25

I was unable to do that and am just attributing it to needing to wait till Shiv has things ready for MSV70's. Tried the beta MSV70/80, no difference.

Thanks again Shiv I was surprised when I got a fully loaded tune when all I wanted was a throttle remap for now. I am currently locked in my car so I hope this doesn't take too long It's cold, scary, and I cant escape my car in case I get attacked by mosquitoes. Picture because I have nothing better to do

I was surprised how similar the MSV70 is to the MSD80. Different read/write protocol but the mapping structure is almost identical. It made it reasonably easy to locate the useful maps

Enjoy!
Cheers,
Shiv

I am trying to understand something, maybe you guys can help. It seems that while the n52 tunes smooth out the engine in a few spots by optimizing fuel air mixture a bit, the bigest kick for people is the remapped throttle. How does this work? The engine is what it is, and produces a certain output. The drive by wire throttle has a range of operation from idle to WOT. Does the remap simply amplify the signal from the pedal, thereby creating the illusion of a more responsive engine because you are at full throttle when the pedal is only partially depressed? Or does the original programming leave something on the table and never reach true WOT for the N52? Thanks in advance for the clarification.

In other words, mechanically, what does this tune actually accomplish for the engine? I am not trying to bash, and I really appreciate what the various tuners have done for our engines, especially the older DME engines like mine.

Shiv would be the best person to explain - but I seem to remember that during some of the discussions it was stated that it was a combination of tuning parameters and increasing throttle % in throttle table to yield the results...

The BMS PBX piggyback simply intercepts the throttle signal & amplifies so car 'thinks' throttle is open more than it is to obtain the different throttle feel it has.

I have years experience with the PBX, and never did like the jerky feel to the throttle - but it was better than lag

The OFT tune completes throttle remap in a MUCH nicer manner. No lag, and smooth application of throttle/power in a linear fashion as in mechanical throttle feel.

I can't believe Shiv got those results simply by jacking up the % and fooling the car as PBX does.
