I need to know if doing this is bad for the turbos/engine
Ok so most 335 owners know that speeding is a given when you own one of these cars. So recently instead of using my breaks to slow down, I would turn the cruise on and decelerated by increments of 5 till I reached 20 and then turn the cruise off and brake when im below 20. I would pull the cruise handle back till it clicks a bunch of times and the cursor goes down to 20 and the car decelerated pretty fast if u have enough distance. I feel by this method your brakes and tires will last longer but is this good for the engine to keep turning cruise on and off. let me know your thoughts thx

I use my breaks in traffic and when I need to stop quick but on open roads when im cruising I like this method so I can improve the life of my brembos and tires. I also noticed that at high speeds when u r on the highway it gets rid of that mild vibration you hear when your breaks r doin work. The bad side is your break lights dont go on so the people behind you always look like they r scratching their heads

No problem using the cruise. But there is no substitute for those brakes. Use them. The thing is in an emergency what is your instincts going to tell you to do?

In an emergency of course Ill b smoking by brembos but Im just testing out my other options. For example if your breaks fail one day on the highway you know you can decelerate down to 20 and then let it slow down to a stop

OP, the cruise in this car applies the brakes to slow you down if the target speed is << than your current speed. It doesn't save your brakes at all.

I know this is true for the Active Cruise control (with the front sensor), but does this also apply to the non-active cruise control?

I drive with traction control off so I have no idea what cruise control is...
Besides if you wanted to "speed" every now and then, your traction control should be off so u could feel the whole potential of your engine Just as long as u know what you are doing with DTC off of course

Agreed, it engages the brakes to slow the car down, so you're not saving them. You can even feel the little tugs as the system pulses the brakes.

Ok. You do realize the cruise control is still using the brakes right? It is difference between you using your foot or your hand to trigger brake application. Its more like you gently riding the brakes. You don't want to use the breaks, use engine breaking instead. Use a high gear to slow down the car its fine. As for mild vibration, it shouldn't unless your discs are grooved. You still under warranty? Take it in, they are covered.

Why not just use the brake pedal? Using the cruise control as braking is NOT the same and you're putting WEAR AND TEAR on the engine/transmission. You constantly doing this will F something up eventually.
Stop being cheap and use the brake pedal, that's what it was designed for, TO BRAKE. If the pads wear out, buy new ones, simple.

wow this forum never ceases to amaze me.
what costs less - brake pads and tires or a motor and a transmission? if u can't afford the tires and brakes, perhaps a different form of transportation (bicycle or public) is better suited for you.

Hey guys on my way home today I decided not to signal while switching lanes. I figured I could save the life of the bulbs if I do this.
Is this bad???

Yeah, I've been using my hands and arm signals instead, and I also scream instead of honking the horn, which would waste battery. Lol
