Wow...

this is pretty serious.

I dont care if these are "disposable wheels" to some track guru's this is not for me.

I'll pay the extra money next time around to avoid a possible disaster.

Nobody wants to live in fear driving on at 80 MPH highway or track to find your wheels crack and just fall off (not that these fell off, but they could have).

Yah, I think those are all the options.
They're different spokes.

Just as a follow-up........ it had occurred to me that the cracks could have been caused by tire installation(s). IMO those types of cracks would be caused more from side loading than hitting bumps.

Even though my situation was a race car with sticky tires and plenty of side load stresses I know many others, including cone-punters who are often up on 2 wheels, who don't have the problem of craked spokes. Bent wheels from hitting berms, etc., but not cracked spokes. Something to ponder.

This seems to be the problem. The load rating on the wheels are very dangerous for a BMW application. Why every spoke has a different bolt pattern and load rating is beyond me. A wheel with a load rating of 505kg should not be on a BMW.

Under track conditions the wheels experience greater loads than daily street driving. Very glad the wheels did not collapse while driving.

Load rating shows: 690kg

Load rating shows: 650kg

Load rating shows: 505kg

Like I said previously, I believe that those are all of the options that they offer for that type of wheel. Obviously, I can't have all of those bolt patterns on one wheel. The correct load for the 5x120 application is displayed right next to it on that spoke.

It says that the load capacity for the 5x120 wheel is 650 kg as seen in this picture.

Man 5... Glad you didn't have a bad failure. That would have been scary. Go buy some Enkei RPF1's, they are light too. I haven't had any issues with mine and had a couple track days and lots of street driving.

To paraphrase Inspector Harry Callahan, "a man's got to know his wheels' limitations!"

Glad that you didn't have a mishap due to the broken wheels, and thanks for bringing this to everyone's attention. As heavy as our cars are, it's probably no surprise that the extreme loading from tracking the car went beyond the wheels' limits.

Just to update, the front wheels are fine.
No cracks were found in the front with a detailed inspection.

I think they are meant for much lighter cars, in general.

Well said. I checked out my wheels last night just in case, even though they aren't Kosei. Last thing I need is a broken wheel.

Can it be different load ratings for different bolt patterns?

wow!! sorry to see this! crazy!
I dont care if they advertise these as "track" wheels, the reality is if they cant be driven on without cracking their factory should be shut down!

Did you contact the vendor that sold them to you?
Are you still using the same brand?

so its 650kg per 5X120 wheel...650kg * 2.2 = 1430lbs per wheel

1430 * 4 wheels = 5,720lbs (E92 weighs in at about 3600lbs)

So should the load rating of the wheel be 1/2 of the overall weight? so two wheels can support the entire weight of the car?

So for E92 needs wheels with load ratings of 1800lbs (818kgs)??

Not to be inconsiderate, but if you're running 17x8.5 +40 and want to get rid of 1, I cracked one of mine recently and would be in the market to purchase one of your "good" ones. I would be running it on my e36 3050lbs car so I'm not as worried.
