wow...all my quotes here so far for labor alone is 850-1500!!! shit, i should of gotten an auto!!!

for the price of the dual mass...i think i will deal with the chatter, as my stock clutch/Dual mass chatters enough to where the gf asked what that noise was inside the car. haha.

its good this thread came up because i was wondering what parts should be replaced.

i should of never installed the meth haha.

The new ACT kit will come with a pressure plate and disc, but no alignment tool or throwout bearing.

My labor rates hover around the $700 mark for work like this.

Matt I appreciate the info on the bolts. The mechanic doing my install is extremely talented... Works on everything from his 7 second truck to alexander ovechkin's Mercedes, but he's never done a 335i so knowing this stuff helps. I wanna be able to to compare this to his findings to make sure he was going to do the right thing after he did his "research"

700??? That's really expensive..if you've done one ever before it shouldn't take you more than 3-3.5 hours tops

Dealership charges 3 hours warranty rate. Standard labor is 6.9 for I model and 7.4 for xi models.

If I charged warranty rates I would work myself right out of business. No one has complained about paying that price on the last several clutches I did.

Pilot bearing (they call it cylindrical roller bearing, goes into your tranny input shaft, inside)

You can see it here: http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...87&hg=11&fg=20

Throwout bearing and fork you don't need to worry about as you'll get them from CM...
Thanks, that is very helpful. I'll order this and the bolts/screws before I'll have it installed.

I've bought the FX300 without a single mass flywheel. As I want to keep my car as stealth as possible and it's a daily driver, I did not want any chatter.

Replace pilot bearing as well or you may get flywheel damage if your current one is bad...it's cheap

why not just go oem again?

i had an aftermarket clutch and lightweight flywheel on my e46 m3.

it went out on me after 2 years of track driving.

it was heavy and loud. oem is king.

can oem not handle additional power from the tunes?

OEM really isn't king when you are getting more and more power.
I had pretty much a brand new clutch on my car and it was slipping because I had too much torque.
When it was replaced the clutch looked fine; it's just that it doesn't have the camping force for the amount of power we can get.

I have upgraded about 6K miles ago my stock clutch with Sachs Performance, stated up to 412 tq and already sleeping in 3rd and 4th. So ACT or CM is a good choice as I have to order a new clutch ? Does anybody know exactly the bill of materials required for the upgrade ?

Release Fork (aka. Release Module) is 21517564027. Well that's what I have ordered, getting an ACT clutch installed tomorrow so I'll see if thats the one.
