Looking to buy the OEM SSK for my 328
So, i did a lot of searching around and found lots of information on the OEM SSK.
However, i heard a lot of people say its shorter and a lot say its longer. I currently have the BMW performance knob so my knob wont be changing, just going to buy the lever. I want two things in getting a Short shift lever: 1) Shorter throws (obv.) 2) Shorter look I also have read that some people get the 330 short shift lever to solve this problem since that one actually sits lower. Any help would be appreciated and if anyone can guide me to where to order the right lever for me on tisher's site that would be great! thanks in advance.

I also did a lot of looking around when i first got mine. Long story short, stick with the OEM SSK or for you, just the shift lever would do.
As for the length, the lever itself is physically "longer" than the stock. However, the way it sits in the shifting area makes it about the same length as the stock. I believe the longer section of the lever is to compensate for the shorter throw. (I may be wrong about that) |

Oem SSK keeps stock shifter position. It's better that way because it's close the the steering wheel. If you shorten it, it becomes awkward to grab. The throw is shortened slightly, enough to make a difference but so much as to make the effort to hard.

ive heard that the 330 lever is actually shorter and that some 335 guys actually buy that as well. i have the 328 bmw ssk and while it sits a little bit higher, they say throws are about 25% shorter which i would say is about accurate

No, don't get the 330 lever. It's the wrong shape. 330 is straight and the 328/25 has a kink. I've done that accidentally. The effort retarded, and it centers so far forward you smash your fingers into center trim piece. The shifter also sits below the trim piece.

My car has 147,000 mi on it and the effort is fine. Since you have the performace knob already it will be better because it's weighted. You're almost local. If you're ever up in the SF bay area, you can try out my lever. Wow that sounded really gay...
