Exclamation Where to mount crossovers in an E92 door?

I'm trying to find a place to mount the Morel crossovers from Musicarnw in my 2010 E92 doors, but there are so many storage pockets, there's really no flat surface. Has anyone done this that can advise?

TIA,

MikeB

That looks like it will work (obviously, 'cause you've done it!)

Technic, you ARE the man.

I placed foam pads underneath my crossovers and secured them with zip ties. I did this because when you slam shut the doors, the crossover and its electronic components get a huge shock from the sudden deceleration. The foam will act as a shock absorber.

If possible you want to mount them as close to the hinge side as possible (same side as speaker) to minimize the mechanical damage that historically kills crossovers in doors. It is better to mount them in the trunk and run new tweeter lines.

There is no room anywhere else in these doors, except when you have some very small crossovers. Most quality crossovers are pretty beefy. Mounting them in the trunk is a good option, but of course it requires more labor, and you need to be careful not introducing unwanted noise. Passive crossover networks easily pick-up noise and the trunk is a very "noisy" area. Also, the tweeter speaker wire needs to be run away from power cables, otherwise they can also pick-up noise. Ironically, one of the most noise-free area of the car is probably the doors, so you may have to live with one evil to eliminate the other!

Thanks for all the tips guys. Passenger door is buttoned up, now onto the driver's side. All my passengers will be told to close the door gently. Which of course will reinforce the snobby perception of BMW owners.
