Taking the e90 330i in for AA tune

Taking my e90 330i in for the AA tune today. Will post a full review for all who are interested. I've been using a Sprint Booster (for sale now if anyone is interested) but am going for the full monty now.

I had it done at CES Motorsport in Monroe, NC. I cannot say enough about the customer service I got from John, the owner. My reflash was small potatoes compared to what he usually has going on there but you wouldn't have known it by the way I got treated. A+ shop. He said to drive it around for a few days before I really pushed it to see what the new flash was like. There are a lot of adaptive codes and evidently it will take a few days for it to reach it's full potential.

O.k., finally got a little time with the car this a.m. on some open roads without all the heat (been in the mid 90's here for a few weeks now). [B]Throttle remap[B] is great. It definitely fixed the lazyness in the "drive-by-wire" throttle and smoothed it out much more like the old cable throttles. This was one of my biggest gripes with the car. The Sprint Booster loaded everything up in the first third of the pedal and while it revealed what the engine was capable of it was just too much and was difficult to drive smoothly. Heel and toe is nice and easy now, as it should be. So, A+ on the throttle map. You can definitely feel the extra HP and TQ. It's not "Holy Shit!" but more like "Nice, very nice." The engine is still as rev happy as ever but there's a little more there. The gains are smooth across the rev range but most noticeable between 3k-4k. The raised rev limiter didn't seem to make much difference, I think it's only 250 rpm higher.
I've only removed the carbon filter on the intake and kept the stock paper filter but may go with a K&N soon and see what that does.
In my opinion this is a must do mod. It really makes the car much more like it should've been. As I said it's not a "Holy Shit!" mod but considering the price ($450 w/install) it's a great bargain. You could spend that on an exhaust or intake, get little to no gains and still have the lazy throttle map and far less smoothness in the torque/hp curve. I've also removed my CDV and installed a BMW SSK and I think the car is now perfect for what it is. Well.... I still want an LSD. Looks like Wavetrac has a helical LSD for the E90's now.... maybe that'll be my next review.
Hope this helps anyone on the fence.

Thanks for the follow up review. I am just awaiting my BMW PE before I go ahead with the AA tune. Seems like a no brainer as everyone who has written a review has nothing but great things to say!

I can't wait!

Thank you for the great review. I've been on the fence about this for a while. I'm still not sure because if my computer is reflashed I loose the tune, which is a total pain (and waste).
As for the LSD.... Do it! I have a Diffsonline LSD with a 3-clutch set-up. I also increased the gearing slightly from a 3.15 to a 3.38. You DEFINITELY feel the difference in the car pulling through all gears. Pulling out from a stop is no issues at all. No more one wheel spinning. Expensive, but definitely worth it.

I got mine 2 years ago so I don't know if the prices are accurate anymore.
It was $3,400 with a brand new rear as the core that he used to build it. I went with a 3-clutch set-up for a little more clamping force rather than 2-clutch. It was totally worth the price. I can now adjust my car mid-corner for balance with the throttle. It's impossible to do with an open-diff. You literally feel it ALL THE TIME.

Diffsonline.com is where I got the LSD. They supply LSDs for race teams. Mine has worked great.

I've the same, but a 3.64 ratio. It's awesome for autocross and the ratio is ideal- I still average 24 mpg and its quiet on the road at 75 mph, but so much quicker.

you guys with the clutch-type LSD's - have you experienced any chatter from the diff at all? and what is the service life of the clutches (how often do they need to be replaced)?

No chatter at all. I don't know the service life of the clutches. Check with Diffsonline directly for that. It does work VERY well.
