Well ended up finding a shop that will do it for $250 so going to get it done tomorrow. My setup will be Catless downpipes with resonator delete (X-pipe) and 75% percent packing removal. If there's any interest in a video let me know otherwise i won't waste my time

So your just removing packing? No wrapping the pipes a inside a bit or replacing them?

No, for me I'd rather cut the mufflers off if i wanted to replace it with steel piping or wrap. The holes are there to let the sound bounce off the packing. If it's a solid pipe then the remaining packing would be worthless, making the muffler worthless. but that logical could be very flawed I'm no expert

I would at least replace the straight pipe on the right with solid and just leave the crossing ones with the holes and remove 75% packing. Someone has already just removed packing and wasnt to pleased with the sound if i remember right

Extremely interested!

I dunno why ppl are taking out perf pipes and putting solid pipes...this is almost exactly like a muffler delete

You talking about Sered, who just took out 75% of the packing from the passenger side? He reported he found none in the driver's side, but it could be because he drives an E92.

He seemed pleased from his vid, and others complimented his setup?

^ I think sered was pleased with the results, I recall him posting that with time it got even better probably because the packing was falling back into places evenly.

Yup, very satisfied with the sound. It got a bit louder as time progressed and then settled. Sounds awesome, especially at WOT. After I'm finished installing my Wavetrac, I'll post up some better vids

Whoops sorry, glad your happy with the sound. When I video scoped my friends car who has the PE I can confirm that the pipe starting at the right exhaust tip going in before making the turn is a solid pipe with no holes in it. Yours does sound close to his. Are your tips aftermarket? or was that a e90 muffler?

Sered has catless downpipes, that makes a big difference.

I know it does. I should have been more clear, the sound im comparing it to is my friends car who has BMW PE, Ar Dp's, HPF FMIC, Afe sealed pro intake. Sounds similar. Point im trying to make is that the PE right side pipe is solid .

Oh, yeah. I get what you mean. I'm willing to try just solid pipe on the right when I find my car and ready for muffler mod. Do you know how much packing is in the PE?

Yeah the tips are aftermarket. Person who owned the car before me put Magnaflow tips on it.

That would have cost a lot more and I was trying to keep the hacking-up of stock parts to a minimum.
I own a midas and thinking of doing this my exhaust tech said he can deff get the perforated pipe replaced with a steel pipe but ur saying that if i just remove all the packing that i should get pe sound?

Just got back from the shop... Here's the cliff notes

1. Mufflers had packing in both sides (e90)

2. Left stock resonator there to control rasp

3. Removed 95% of packing left only a handful in each muffler. Just enough to coat the bottom of the muffler

4. Didn't touch any piping

5. Zero drone (6at so I'm very happy)

6. Brought some more growl in the bottom end but really haven't got enough seat time to give an honest review.

7. Tomorrow/Saturday expect a new thread that will include videos and pictures

8. I am very happy with it so far no regrets

PS How come you didn't remove 100% of packing from right side, instead of the 75% you chose to?

Can't wait! Hopefully you won't disappear like the last guy that said he was going to post videos and a thread for everything.
