Well ended up finding a shop that will do it for $250 so going to get it done tomorrow. My setup will be Catless downpipes with resonator delete (X-pipe) and 75% percent packing removal. If there's any interest in a video let me know otherwise i won't waste my time

No, for me I'd rather cut the mufflers off if i wanted to replace it with steel piping or wrap. The holes are there to let the sound bounce off the packing. If it's a solid pipe then the remaining packing would be worthless, making the muffler worthless. but that logical could be very flawed I'm no expert

^ I think sered was pleased with the results, I recall him posting that with time it got even better probably because the packing was falling back into places evenly.

Yup, very satisfied with the sound. It got a bit louder as time progressed and then settled. Sounds awesome, especially at WOT. After I'm finished installing my Wavetrac, I'll post up some better vids

Whoops sorry, glad your happy with the sound. When I video scoped my friends car who has the PE I can confirm that the pipe starting at the right exhaust tip going in before making the turn is a solid pipe with no holes in it. Yours does sound close to his. Are your tips aftermarket? or was that a e90 muffler?

I know it does. I should have been more clear, the sound im comparing it to is my friends car who has BMW PE, Ar Dp's, HPF FMIC, Afe sealed pro intake. Sounds similar. Point im trying to make is that the PE right side pipe is solid . |

Just got back from the shop... Here's the cliff notes
1. Mufflers had packing in both sides (e90) 2. Left stock resonator there to control rasp 3. Removed 95% of packing left only a handful in each muffler. Just enough to coat the bottom of the muffler 4. Didn't touch any piping 5. Zero drone (6at so I'm very happy) 6. Brought some more growl in the bottom end but really haven't got enough seat time to give an honest review. 7. Tomorrow/Saturday expect a new thread that will include videos and pictures 8. I am very happy with it so far no regrets

PS How come you didn't remove 100% of packing from right side, instead of the 75% you chose to?
