Help! E90 LCI Halogen to Xenon

I just did the Halogen to Xenon conversion for my 2009 E90LCI.

Lights were able to work with engine off. When engine was on, low beam did not turn on (keep flashing) but angel eyes and corner lights were fine.

Two error messages showed up on the dash:

I followed the instruction in here and added VO $522 to FRM but I discovered that my car only had NFRM, so I added VO $522 to NFRM.

Then I read the values in NFRM, I was able to find "AUTO_LWR_ENABLE" which was nicht_aktiv already, but I was not able to find "PWM_ANST_FL_BIXENON".

Error still exist after adding $522 to NFRM. I had no way to get the low beam work properly.

Am I missing sth here? Is NFRM same as FRM?

Please please, any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

You need to FA_write the VO code to your NFRM and the CAS module.

After that, you need to then recode your NFRM module to the defaults in the VO code by using expertmode.

After that, you need to set the AUTO_LWR_ENABLE to nicht_aktiv (this will turn on after you recode the NFRM).

That will solve the problem.

Is that FA_write the VO code to your NFRM and the CAS module only? (not including FRM?)

Could you please give me some more detail on how to recode NFRM module?

NFRM is the next version of the FRM module. FRM was used on early module cars. So in your case wherever the instructions say FRM, it's NFRM for you.

The last step in the VO DIY says to code another module, the NFRM and CAS are the modules that need to have the FA_write.

AFter doing that, you can recode the NFRM module.

Basically follow the original DIY to code in ncs expert. Select expertmode profile instead of FSW_PSW. Follow the same steps as before to the point where you complete reading the specific module (ie NFRM). After that, you don't need to go into the WORK folder and change the file around etc.

What you do is change the job to SG_Coderien (similar) and just code the module. This will make all the changes required for xenon.

After that, just disable AUTO_LWR_ENABLE.

That should be all you need to do.

Adding VO $522:

I went to File -> Load Profil -> Expertmode -> F1 -> F3 -> E89, then three options appear: CAS, FRM, NFRM, which one should I chose?

Choose CAS.

When you follow the next steps you will then see a big list of modules where you choose NFRM

Thanks DESI4life10!!

Seems like I was able to reset and disable AUTO_LWR_ENABLE and eliminating the low beam error.
However, I still got an error look like this:

Are your DRL lights working as well? Are you running aftermarket AE lights?

I not sure about DRL...for the four modes in light switch, Auto mode can't really be tested since it's night time in here, 0 is fine, angel-eye is fine, low beam is fine.

Everything seems working fine, except High Beam (High beam is linked to low beam), level adjuster and error on the dash..

When I was using the old halogen headlights, I was able to adjust the angel of the light from 0-1-2 with a little adjuster next to light switch.

Problem so far:

1. Corner lights flash only once instead of three times when it's pressed.

2. Light beam focus to left side due to projector position, any way to adjust it back to center?

3. Light beam shakes up and down when driving on rough road and speed bump, is this normal?

4. High beam still can't use.

5. Lighting error still exists.

1) You can change the setting to flash 3 times through the bc menu in the settings section.
2)There is an adjustment for this. Look on top towards the back of the headlight housing. Do you see a + style screw hole? That will adjust it.

3) A little bit of shake is normal. How bad are we talking.

4) You need to look in the frm module and change the following to this (you should have 2 options below that line):
PWM_ANST_FL_BIXENON
wert_01
wert_01

5) You should try deleting the warm/cold check for the turn signals to see if that fixes the problem.

I can do up/down adjustment with the red circle but I can't find a + style screw hole...can you please point it out in the picture? Do I need to take out the light?

Sorry, I got it mixed up.

If you follow the back of the headlight towards the fender you will see like a black pastic plug on the fendor. Remove that plug and it will reveal another + like screw hole that moves the projector left and right.

Can you also send me a .trc file of your NFRM module? I can take a look at it and see what you need to change.

Thanks again DESI4life10!

I have the 3 blinks back and I can do the left/ right adjustment thru the little hole next to the fender.

I will compare the shake to my friend's xenon and see if mine is worse or not.

I will show you the trc file when my laptop is fully charged, thank you very much for helping~!

No problem. Glad everything is working correctly for ya (step be step).

You try disabling the cold/warm checks for the turn signals?
i believe these are the led turn signal lines:

Please see the attached for my NFRM.trc

I could not find these command for LED turning signal in the trc file.

KALTUEBERWACHUNG_BLK_VO
WARMUEBERWACHUNG_BLK_VO

when I press and hold bc at the error message, it says CC-ID 378 and CC-ID 379, base on google,

CC-ID 378 - Sidelight/Daytime Lights Defective- Left
CC-ID 379 - Sidelight/Daytime Lights Defective- Right

Are they meaning the LED turning signal?
I can't get further detail of the errors since I have no way to get into the FRM module in INPA
