Actuator torque limit error
I keep getting 2D5A error code. Even after I delete it, it comes back. There are no other codes. After reset, the car does appear to pull just a hint stronger.
car is 2011 w/ manual transmission. Engine / Motor: - Fault: Actuator torque limit - Code: 002D5A I haven't found much information about this error for N52s. Most of the topics are regarding 335s and I don't think they quite translate to N52. apparently, the code is also known as control motor torque limitation and 2D5A - VANOS, intake: control fault, camshaft sticking. Car has AA tune, 3IM and headers. Last edited by W37V; 01-19-2016 at 12:01 PM.. |

I don't think this has anything to with Vanos. it's something along the lines of the actual torque being above expected torque. I came across a parameter that might fix it but I haven't tried it yet (also, I have never been able to reproduce this problem myself).
The actual error code is "Überwachung Motordrehmoment-Begrenzung", something like "Monitoring of Motor Torque Limitation". (I like seeing the actual German error codes when it comes to BMWs because people mistranslate or miss the context). it's come up on a few N52s and N53s that I know of. I don't know if anyone has actually found a fix. There's a Boolean to turn off torque monitoring but it's not certain that it will fix this and/or not cause any other errors. |

So you are telling me that my N52 is making too much torque?
I never expected that. However, after clearing the code, car does pull stronger. There is no CEL. Car does pull ok, but doesn't feel as strong. what do you think what other errors might pop up? |

no.. it's something in the torque control/DSC system. I don't know exactly what, but it pops up sometimes when people have a full tune. I've taken my exact tune (that doesn't have any issues) and put it on another basically identical car and they get the torque monitor errors.

My car started presenting with this code after I changed out a failed DISA flap. I do also have Eurobox and PE with secondary cat delete, but no tune. No idea what to do about it either.

I pulled the code description from Tool32. It doesn't say anything about Vanos. 2D55 is the throttle pedal monitor.
The only codes related to Vanos are: 2A80 Einlass-VANOS, Ansteuerung 2A82 Einlass-VANOS, Mechanik 2A85 Auslass-VANOS, Ansteuerung 2A87 Auslass-VANOS, Mechanik Last edited by hassmaschine; 01-20-2016 at 11:03 AM.. |

In for updates. I noticed a similar shadow code after my AA tune/manifold. Hasn't caused any issues minus being a shadow code (at this point).

2A2E - Mixture Regulation (bank 1, I assume) 2A2F - Mixture Regulation (bank 2) Could also be translated as "fuel trim". The full text of the detailed error code should give a little more context. the freeze frame data should show what the trims are. |

Do you know if I could acquire the freeze frame data with the BavTech software? If so, any idea how?

yeah I don't know. The best tool by far IMO for reading error codes on a BMW is BMW's own software. You can see a heck of a lot more that most of the aftermarket tools either hide or just don't read out.

Yeah, I've tried setting all that up but it's outside of my skillset.
