Passengers side mirror not tilting while reversing

I have an 06 E90 330i and have noticed that my passengers side mirror stopped tilting down when i put the car in reverse. I also notice that the revers light don't come on. Now it does work sometimes but 8/10 it doesn't. Does anyone know where and if there is a switch that controls this?

Thanks

The button that lets you select which mirror to adjust. If it's set to the right mirror position, it won't tilt when reversing. If it's set to the left, it'll tilt. Can't give you an answer about the reverse lights though.

Also, if you happen to put the button in between the 2 positions (so as to not accidentally adjust your mirrors), it won't tilt either. The reverse lights not coming on could be as simple as a fuse or a bad reverse switch on the shifter/trans, but you'd have to refer to a tech manual to know where it's located.

That's the thing, it's set in the proper position and works about 20% of the time and since the reverse lights correspond to the mirror or visa versa then I'm thinking it has to do with some sort of reversing switch engaged by shifting into reverse.

Only if I had a manual. Does anyone know where this is located?

I had a similar problem with my 09 328i, except that the mirror always tilted down when the car was in reverse. But when I put the car into drive, the mirror would occasionally stay in the downward position. It's annoying as well as being quite dangerous to look at your passenger side mirror and not be able to see cars on your right because it's pointing directly toward the pavement.

The answer for this problem was replacing the actuator motor which controls the mirror.
