Darth_Bimmer88 e92 Build Thread- Project Sapphire
Hey guys,
Been a lurker on the forums for a number of years now but have finally decided to document my progress. I have done almost all the work myself with forum member and vendor support. Figured I'd throw this up here for community feedback as I move forward on the build and if anyone has any questions on certain modifications so that I can get them as hooked on this platform as I am. Car is a 2008 E92 335i which I purchased used with about 55k. Black sapphire metallic exterior, coral red interior, and factory aero package. I wanted to keep the car looking like something that would still come from the factory (ie. no visible carbon fiber b/c not racecar, still has untouched window trim & aero kit, etc.), but reasonably upgraded in every other sense. I have recently been hitting the 1/4 mile with it so that has influenced some of my future modification choices. And because I never post, is there a quick & easy way to rotate the images?
Also... (reserved for future posts)

Very clean! Every time I see the Aero rear on BSM I REALLY consider going with it instead of the M-sport rear.

Much appreciated! And you don't see too many of them which is why I decided to keep it... PITA to keep very clean with the pseudo mesh inserts though.

Thank you! Problem is every time you knock one out, you think of another 2 or 3 you want to do... Hopefully this spurred some more ideas for you

Quick update now that spring is upon us;
Thanks to Steve at Fuelit, stage 3 fuel pump and all new lines are installed. Also installed a P3 track pack vent gauge connected to Zeitronix ethanol analyzer and inline ethanol sensor so I will have real time digital ethanol readings. Also big thanks to Chris at StrutMonkey and Swift Springs for helping me sort out my rear suspension. Finally able to clear the newly mounted Mickey Thompson Street ET drag radials (285/35 R19). And then got a diff lock-down plate from a vendor on another forum and had that powder coated because why not. In the coming weeks should have my custom wheel back from Steve at Nelson Racing Wheels, and will also be working with Wedge on a new custom tune to try and shave some additional seconds at the track. Stay tuned!

That intake looks very close to the hood. How is the clearance? Where in Chicago are you?
I believe you are running VWetish diff plate too, no? Hard to keep up with all of your mods |

Very observant of you Recently had the mfactory LSD fail on me, with one of the crown bolts punching a hole in the pumpkin Mfactory have offered to rebuild the diff but meanwhile am running a spare MT diff without the diff plate I have to say, the back end jumps around a lot more without the VWetish |

I promise it won't happen again
The elbow coupling just barely rests on the inner hood liner but has caused no issues whatsoever. I know this style intake isn't really necessary but I just love the way it cleans up my engine bay. And I'm in the northwest suburbs. Yourself?

HUGE shout out to Steve Nelson at Nelson Racing Wheels. Guy does the absolute most amazing work. Extremely excited for the eventual release of forged carbon emblems to be added to my carbon fiber hood and trunk!
And after having the battery disconnected for a bit during the LPFP install, I had this beast of a list of control messages pop up. If anyone can offer any guidance on the restraint, DSC, and DBC malfunctions it would be greatly appreciated.
