Intake for xi
Can you use aftermarket intake systems like the injen sp or afe cold air intake stage 2 for a 2007 328xi??

I you want any gains, i would go with a sealed intake. The purpose of a "cold" air intake is to get more cold air to your engin quicker. with your typical injen they are just sucking the hot air out of your engin compartment. I went with the aFe Stage 2 Si Dry because it still sucks the cooler air from outside and increases your air flow by almost 60%

Or you can do what I did and cut the carbon filter out, sand the rough edges down, replace the stock intake tube with silicone intake piping, and drop a K&N in the box. Pretty much the same shit for less than half the price of AFE.

You can buy the aFe intake kit. I love it. My boy bought it for his xi and there is 1 small mod you have to do. With a bandsaw you need to cut a 1" by 3" cut reason is there is a bar that connects from side of fender to frame. That's it

i paid $499 for the AA exhaust and $750 for the simon tool and the tune they were very easy to install. and yes i feel a pretty big difference. But do not forget i also have the 3 stage manifold conversion, which that and the tune really work great together. I raced my buddy the other day who has a 330 and right now the only performance mod he has is a injen intake and i was able to beat him so i know the tune made a significant difference sine my car stock only has 225hp and his stock is 255hp. so with all my mods i think i probably gained around 40+ hp at the crank.
