this is another comparison between tony (in bold) with a 2min 24sec lap compared to Joel's 2min 21 sec lap. both of you guys look like youre doing almost the same thing but it looks like Joel is doing the bus stop section quite a bit faster than tony. i think thats where tony loses quite a bit of time. tony is braking a lot more for the bus stop and his speed is quite a bit lower through that area compared to Joel.

Hey Chris... those graphs are awesome. Very good tool. If I take the time to analyse them with the other lapper (you or Joel), awesome tool.

But it would be even better with the same car / different driver. Comparing notes on gear selected, entry speed, exit speed, line used...

I guess Jay's setup uses graphs and video at the same time (?)

yea jaypod's set up is a lot more complexed. i believe he gets data from the car (revs, brake inputs, etc) and can match it to video which makes everything more exciting.

Yeah! this is what I would be looking for, any details on his set-up?

Chris, how can you compare with Joel and Tony's data? What are you using for this?

WGI has definitely become my preferred track. Fairly technical with some very non forgiving areas if you should make a moderate mistake.

I've still have that dumb ear to ear grin on my face and cannot wait for my upcoming back to back weekend events at Calabogie.

He has the ability to do it ... but he hasn't set it up yet. Missing some key connections.

i believe jaypod is using traqmate but i am not sure. that set up is quite expensive - probably close to $2k or more including the camera system, GPS lap timer, vehicle data collector, etc.

mine is a basic GPS lap timer that you can attach anywhere in the car. it only records speed and location at various points on the track. it does not record any vehicular inputs such as steering angle, revs, braking, etc.

this is what i am using - AiM Solo:

Weather was great. Track modification was a non issue as Duncan has said. Can't really compare track times because of it, but I did improve my times once again. Car was performing well. Great folks as always. Joe runs a great event.

The Whoop Ass Corvette, the red GTR, the blue supercharged Elise, the gray GTR and Joe's Cobra... all were given multiple point byes.
Max's M3, Duncan's M3, Joel's M3 and the Datsun were given 1 or 2 point byes over the 2 days (8 sessions). As for the others... either you can't catch me, or the session ended just too early for us to meet up.

Drive back was good. Luckily I finally met up with Chris and Glen and a Mini Cooper S in Watertown. This way I didn't kill myself by falling asleep on the highways.

And the border crossing took 36 seconds total.
I picked up a Nexus form.

You go often enough that it should be a no brainer for you! Apply for yourself and Leen.

Everything can be filled thru the internet BTW, IIRC. If you qualify, you will be called for an interview by Canadian and US Border officials. Did it at the Dorval Airport, easy enough.....

Jay was using VBOX. Both the VBOX and the AIM Solo DL can take take feed from the ECU/OBD to overlay throttle, brake, gear (and other metrics) with the GPS and accelerometers and any video (Inside and outside view).

Joel,

You have time to drop by my place tomorrow? I am thinking swapping my front pads. Need a little coaching, and borrow your G-clamp.

You are correct Joel! I have the video Vbox Lite. 2 camera, gps, video recording. Unfortunately the OBD port is not supported for e92 M3 so you require a micro input module which I do not have at the moment but am going to add.
My memory card was a dud and I was not able to get any good data from my runs and the video is a mess. I did use my iphone/harry's laptimer so do have some video and data but not nearly as effective or accurate.

Shizzle I believe also uses the AIM Solo but has it mated to a Smarty Cam for the video.
