7-digit postcode for navi

I am sure there is plenty of threads on this, so I apologies for being lazy. However, can someone tell me if it is possible to upgrade my sat nav (57 plate professional) with a new disc, (not overly keen on tampering with hardware) so I can enter a full postcode. Because this thing is driving me mad

No, there is no full postcode search on any of the available satnav discs. And yes, you could have used the

That's the 2008-1 disc yes ??? That's the ONLY disc with the full 7-digit codes...who modified it, I don't know, but no one's had the time, or patience, to do the same with the 2009 discs yet. And given there's a whole bunch of roads in East London that are totally wrong on the 2007-2 and 2008-1 discs, I can't be doing going back to the older version...!

OK folks here is the link I sent by PM. I cannot vouch for them personally and I have no business connection or interest but have heard good reports on their products.

http://www.gaming-ladders.co.uk/satnav/software.html

This tells you about upgrading the O/S if required and also look under DVD disks which includes 2009-1 with 7 digit. My current understanding is that you cannot do an update for the HD based systems O/S or maps which was how I came across this info whilst trying to find out if I would have 7 digit when my E92 arrives in Jun.

I have read the information on the above link. I cannot seem to find my software version. I have followed the steps for the I-Drive. But i come to a screen which says OBC,after you click on that it takes you to another menu. But cannot find navigation software version on that anywhere.

I think you can go direct to the DVD disk page; the O/S update stuff is really related to older cars. Look at the 2009-1 DVD Professional UK details which gives you quite a bit of info and notes. It will depend on how old your car is, which nav system you have and what software standard the car is at (I read that as separate from the nav system software).

As I said above I haven't got to the point of using this on an E9X (hence my initial reluctance to stick this on the forum with any implication that this is a dead cert for all E9Xs or that I am an expert!) but I have done a software and map update on my E39 which worked fine. I would go to the contact page where there is an e-mail address bottom right; I'm sure they will answer any queries you have.

As per link above this looked quite promising on the 2009-1 disc page - but look at the pdf and using the 7 digit codes looks like a bit of a faff - basically you have to find the 5 digit postcode then search for a POI near that 5 digit postcode and scroll through to find the full 7 digit code. Anyone actually used this method? It sounds a bit clunky, but then again I haven't tried it so it may not be too bad.

I have an older version 2008, I can do it. It is not as hard as it seems. But may be different for the new versions.
