E90 roof box
Following on from my roof bars thread, anyone got any pictures of their E90 with roof box on. I'm trying to decide what size to go for???

I have gone with the whispbars after reading decent reviews on them. Obviously they seem more streamlined than other options and seem to give slightly less roof clearance.....
Anyone know if a recessed roof box or one with a rear overhang is going to catch the sharkfin ariel?

Yeah my box came with the claw things but they're not perfect. They're apparently not designed for wingbars - whispbars prob the same. They only work properly on square or aero bars. Also, they take up boatloads of room inside the box. Instead I swapped them out for the rail kit. A little more fiddly, but much more secure and takes up zero room in the box. It's essentially a t-piece screw that slides onto the bar then a nut on the inside of the box.

Steve, could you possibly measure the clearance between the door and the bottom of the box. I want to know if I could still open the sunroof with the box fitted.
Cheers bud.

Box to roof is 8cm and roof to bottom of bar is about 6.5cm. Any use?

Cheers mate, yes, I did mean roof - must have been a typo!
Thanks for that, I will check it out and see what height the roof is when open. How far apart are the bars on your box? Also, is the lid strut assisted?

Not sure on how far apart the bars are as I'm on the road now. They're as far apart as the box allows. They're not strut assisted per se but are sort of spring assisted. The lid holds itself open perfectly well and weighs nothing. It also opens from either side which is massively useful.
I can measure the bar to bar distance when I get home tonight if you need. It's actually surprising just how much stuff the box will swallow too. Mines a 3/4 width one too so I could still get a bike on top too if needs be! Thinking of throwing the little one in there then Jat or just the mrs?!

lol - just the mrs at this stage!
That info would be great when you get a chance. How much was the box/bars in the end? (if you dont mind my asking)
