But maybe they wouldn't accept you in the open-track group, even though you were advanced since spots are very limited and they would favor people who have experience at Watkins Glen... a-ha... didn't think of that, right?

You want to learn more tracks. The journey is as much fun as the destination... well maybe not as much, but close.

Ha Ha, nice Tony! As you do know that when you become advanced, it only takes you couple of sessions and you're good to go for open track right? But I appreciate the invite.

I know it's fun to try new tracks, but it is hard (for the family man) to be away for practically 3 full days, including travel to/fro. Even 2 days is pushing it...... More productive for me to do 3 separate days (3 x 1 day events = 8 hrs track time) closer to home....But I will do WGI with you folks in the future.

At minimum I plan to go to: Calabogie July 17/18 (this will be my third year in a row), and to Tremblant October 2/3rd (this will be my second year in a row.) Both are great events -- I recommend them highly.

4 to 5 sessions of 20-25 minutes per day (2 days)
+ classroom

Now the open-track at 55$ extra will let you drive with the Instructors group (Advanced)

From the email I got:

In addition for a select number of highly advanced students, we have our "open track format" For these highly advanced drivers ( driving at instructor level for the most part), they run with the instructor group and have considerable track time available --(up to 2.5 -3 hrs per day) --HOWEVER these spaces are limited.

So that rules out most of us. References needed for the open-track only. No references needed for the regular school.

Our membership to a canadian club will be accepted so the fees would be 395 US$ for the school. It's a very good price IMO.
Instructor level, eh ... That is a bummer.

So what does that give you per day for the regular sessions ...2 hours?

I'm thinking that we might me a little far off from Instructor level ... I'm wishful, but a realist.

I definitely need more track time before going to that level... cars will be blowing past me and the draft would be strong enough to make me spin.

So on the 18th I'm signing up and then after confirmation we work on accommodations...

I tested their registration site, it looks like a reservation system... and then you send payment afterwards (?) anyways that's what it looks like for their 1st event at Lime Rock.

On the 18th I'll send you the link. No forget that... you will need to get a username and password from the Patroon BMW Chapter, then you will be able to register through that site... somewhere.

Don't worry. I will help you on the 18th

I paid with cc. The site uses a https so it's secure. But I can understand you're hesitant.
I was also thinking of sending a check instead
I did not give out my club number but they told me they accepted our membership from canadian clubs.
You still need to pay your dues with the Quebec club
Yes leave it blank or write whatever

it's not about https but about the fact that "random sites" can keep your cc information in their databases like mainstream trusted sites

you dont want to give your cc number to a guy who's operating his website in his basement

I agree. Hopefully Karelo and Motorsportsreg are legit. Used them last year and had no problem...
