I welded up about half of the exhaust today, fixed most of the exhaust leaks, and got a muffler on the car. Its' a bit quieter but still way louder than I was hoping for. But with 3.5" exhaust I guess I'll just have to deal with it. I've still got 2 fairly large leaks to take care of, but I've run out of welding gas again.

If you can leave black marks on a straight from the time you exit a corner till the time you brake for the next turn....... Then, you have enough horsepower. Last edited by Roy Cormier; 05-11-2013 at 09:08 PM.. |

I've got a Cobb AP for now, boost control still needs to be figured out. If I can't make it work with just that, then I might build some hardware to control boost and deal with the DME.
I was thinking about designing a vacuum controlled external wastegate in Solidworks, but that seems like too much work at this point, modifying one of my existing WGs would be easier. I've got a few ideas to try whenever I get some motivation to work on the car again.

Loving the sound! Can't wait to hear for a freeway pull with this setup!
Keep the Cobb, get a Turbosmart/AEM boost-controller gauge, and run a Tial external wastegate. With so much work done already, why cheap on stock wastegates?

Well now I got this crazy idea in my head that I can make one of these external gates work off vacuum rather than boost. I just ripped one apart and I think I might be able to make this work, I'll have to do some experimenting with springs though.
I'd probably have to recirculate it into the exhaust too, because I have a feeling it'd be open more than i'd like.

I'm not looking to actually use the stock wastegates in any way, just the stock wastegate solenoids. To control modified external wastegates via vacuum (or a single WG with two pipes separated up to the valve seat).
It'll either work or it won't, since it seems no one has tried yet I might as well find out.
